I didn’t really want to write a post related to the Coronavirus pandemic, but as I’ve been at home for the last few weeks I thought it was about time that I put something together that would help keep everyone busy (even if only for a little while!)
Rather than spending your time on TikTok, rewatching hundreds of versions of the same bloody video (yes I decided to do a #boredinthehouse video and am guilty of spending hours scrolling), here are a few ideas to keep you busy whilst in lockdown; at
Sort through your wardrobe
I love a good old sort out and rather than being in lockdown with nothing better to do than re-watch episodes of Shameless in bed – having a good old spring clean of my wardrobe is better time spent. If you’re a long-time follower, you may already know that I’m a shopaholic (make sure to check out my post Things You’ll Know if You’re a Shopaholic) and never seem to have enough room. So being in lockdown is the perfect opportunity to sort through some shit.

Give your clothes some love or start a new project
This could basically mean doing anything to give your clothes a new lease of life – scrubbing out the tired stain on your favourite top, stitching up the hole in your dress, taking up a pair of trousers or making something completely new if you’re that way inclined. Get creative and give your clothes the love they deserve ❤️
Make sure to check out the How To page of this site for more ideas on what you can do to get creative at home!

Wash your furniture and curtains
Now this one is a bit random and not at all in keeping with the usual content on here, however I decided to pull of the covers to my sofa cushions and take the curtains down to give them a good spin in the washing machine. If you’ve got a steam cleaner then it’s a good opportunity to pull it out or make use of the carpet cleaners you’ve had stashed away in the cupboard for donkeys!
I couldn’t believe the difference once we’d taken them in off the washing line and it made the living room smell fresh – perfect when you’re spending your days locked up!
Cook something new
Okay I haven’t cooked anything new per se, however I’ve gotten into my cooking a lot more over the last few weeks as I can’t bear the thought of basic oven cooked food every day, let alone piling on the pounds from eating shit for weeks on end.
Some dishes I’ve whipped up include butternut squash curry (inspired by the best curry I’ve ever had when we were on our honeymoon in Bali), slow cooked beef fajitas, many a stir fry, a traditional British roast (minus Yorkshire puddings because I forgot the first time, but made some homemade ones the following Sunday) and an olden but golden, spaghetti Bolegnaise.
Make a TikTok video
Okay, contradicting what I said in my introduction, making a video will kill some time and give you some laughs. I’ve only made one and can’t say it was the best piece of content, but I had fun and that’s all that matters (for the sake of transparency and potentially embarassing myself, you can check out my video here). Just make sure to stop yourself from getting lost in the whirl before you realise an entire day has passed and you don’t have the time to cook a decent meal, or it’ll be oven chips and chicken dippers for you tonight!
Do some decorating
A couple of years back I decided to freshen up the walls in our bedroom and put some masking tape over the wallpaper on our feature wall to get a perfect line because I’m a lazy cow when it comes to decorating. However, unbeknownst to me, once I’d finished that once that masking tape came off it would be taking strips of wallpaper with it too.
Being fed up with looking at shitty wallpaper each morning, I decided to tidy it up and re-create the print and background to make it look like less of an eyesore.

It’s not finished yet and there’s still some work to do (I need to fish out my acrylic paints if they’re still in this flat – I can’t remember if I chucked them out), but I’m glad it’s not such an eyesore anymore.
Try out some of your body and skincare products
As I’m not going out, I’m using this time to sort through my body and skincare products from various purchases and gift sets I’ve accumulated over the last few years and have been testing them out on my skin. I’ve been using a retinol and salicylic acid from The Ordinary to dry out my spots and clear up the acne scarring on my face.
My Dad and Step-Mum Fran dropped over a huge skincare set from No7 with loads of goodies for my birthday (I recently turned 28 and had a very strange day) and am now going through all of the products ready for a review post for you all!
De-clutter
And finally, now is the perfect time to de-clutter and get rid of all the shit you have hoarded. We’ve spent each day over the last week going through each room and sorting through our shit, using this as an opportunity to rid ourselves of the things we don’t want to take when we eventually move out of our flat into a house next year. Granted not much has actually left the flat, but we’ve gone through everything and now know what’s important to us.
And there we have it! I hope I’ve been able to give you some ideas for keeping boredom at bay and saving your sanity, I’ve got a feeling that we’re going to be stuck indoors for some time.
Keep safe and healthy everyone! x

Well, I’ve become quite the producer of crocheted items since I’ve been off. I’ve been bouncing between making rugs for Grandma (now in the wash and about to be sent off) and also crocheting cotton cloths. (lets see if she’ll actually use them or frame them, 😉 ) You should also be getting a package of ‘stuff’ that I’ve made. Oh the excitement! lol
Oooh I’m so excited!! And if I wasn’t working from home during the day I’d definitely be taking up crocheting 🧶 ❤️
