I don’t know about you, but I’m getting a bit sick of having to continuously wear my boots pretty much every day and spring can’t come around sooner. Yes I do have quite a few different pairs of boots – I can think of 6 at the top of my head although I probably shouldn’t boast about that or the fact that I can picture them in my head.
Laying here before turning my head over to sleep for the night, I was reading a news article about the shoes that are forecast to be *a big deal* for 2020 and I felt inspired for the next season (whilst simultaneously depressed that it’s still going to be a couple of months before I can start wearing anything that doesn’t cover my entire foot) and wanted to share some of my latest finds – all of which I will of course try to source secondhand alternatives for. I’ve linked the items in the pictures if any of my picks tickle your fancy, so feel free to shop away and I apologise in advance for any money spent that wasn’t planned.
So without further ado, here are some of my shoe inspirations for Spring 2020!
Flat Slingbacks

I really love the look of slingback, so I think this is the year that I go on the hunt for my perfect pair – because a girl can never have too many shoes right?! I’m more of a flat shoes kinda gal and it’s very rare that you’ll catch me in a pair of heels – I even opted to stick with my sandals on my wedding day when I had the most gorgeous pair of heels to rock!
Fresh White Converse

I think these are going to be trainers that I need to buy new as white canvas shoes don’t tend to be the kind of thing you can get secondhand, however I will try to source a new pair. The ones I have at the moment are falling apart, the glue holding the soles to the canvas has torn apart through one too many washes in the washing machine, so it’s definitely time for me to upgrade. I saw someone wearing a pair of the platform style the other day and was absolutely obsessed – I think to give them a bit of a refresh that it’s a style I’m going to opt for!
Black Dr Marten Sandals

What can I say? I’m always drawn to the chunky sandal look and these have been on my wish list for so long, that I think it’s about time I bite the bullet and put my hand in my pocket for a pair. Dr Marten’s are a reliable brand with shoes that will probably outlive us, our children… our grandchildren?! I think I’ll pop these on my birthday wish list and hope that Aaron will treat his doting wife to a pair of these beauts!
Mules

I like to think of these as a shoe/flip flop hybrid and I’m loving the smarter, leather style mules – I can imagine me wearing them to work one day and out shopping for another (I won’t kid you and say the whole “day to night” look as I don’t go out very often).
Now, I try not to follow trends and base all of my purchases on things I genuinely believe will remain in my wardrobe until they’re falling apart – it’s something I’ve noticed more and more over the last few weeks and I’m happy enough to wear whatever I want and not feel obligated to buy into trends that will wither away like the hope of winning the lottery (I don’t play it, so that’s zero hope lol!)
Let me know what shoes you’ll be adding to your spring wardrobe this year and if you’re someone that loves a trend! I’d love to know what draws you to them and how you make your shopping decisions!
