Jeez that’s good to get off of my chest, I’ve been keeping it a secret for a couple of months now and am so incredibly happy to be sharing this amazing news with you all!
So, here’s how it all went down.
I was minding my own business at work one day when I got a message from a recruitment agent on LinkedIn about a potential opportunity in the fashion industry which she thought I’d be well suited to (shout out to Farah from Pact Recruit!) – intrigued I gave her a call on my lunch break to find out the opportunity was with ASOS. I’m sure you can imagine I was losing my shit at this point because I’ve always been an avid fan of the company (just check back on the many posts I’ve written and you’ll see them crop up time and again).
We chatted about the job (Implementation Support Lead – basically what I’d already been doing) and whether this was something I’d be interested in – I obviously said yes and waited for an interview which came a couple of weeks later.
As soon as I walked into the building, I felt completely at ease and like it was where I needed to be. I sat in reception waiting to be seen and loved the sleek interiors, the ASOS brand ever present wherever I looked, the staff on reception lovely, it felt perfect and I hadn’t even started the interview! The interview went amazingly well and I felt so comfortable like it was more of a chat!
After a few painstaking days, I finally heard back that they wanted to offer me the job! We had some contract stuff to sort out and finally agreed on my start date the 1st of May. The day after I signed the contract, I handed in my letter of resignation and started to wrap up everything I’d been doing. When my old employers heard where I was going, they completely understood why I needed to go – it was bloody ASOS after all!
I took just over a week off between leaving my old job as I had some holiday, had a major knees up with my old team (as in, vomiting hangover kind of drunk) and did some well deserved shopping.
When my first day finally came around, I was nervous as fuck (as I’m sure many people will know when starting a new job – just because you’re excited doesn’t mean you won’t get nervous!) and was trembling as I walked into reception – I was planning on doing a big Instagram reveal outside the building but was so worked up and didn’t end up having any time until I finished and was finally home. My manager came to meet me, took me around the building and I got to meet my new team, along with loads of other people I’d be working with – once the intros were out of the way I felt so much more at ease and came home buzzing about it all. Everyone was so lovely, the work sounds so exciting and I feel like this is going to be a really great place for me to work.
I’m sure you can imagine there’s probably going to be some more ASOS gear being shown on here in the future (like there wasn’t enough anyway lol) and will keep you all updated on how I feel it’s going – I can’t wait to start my new journey at such an amazing company!
