My first facial experience at Venus Hair & Beauty in Letchworth

24/04/2019

Believe it or not, I’d never had a facial before Friday and couldn’t wait to have some pamper time to experience it. Not knowing where to go, I was chatting to my Grandma about it who told me that she gets a facial every 6 weeks (pamper queen) at a place called Venus in Letchworth where I live. She recommended a lady called Charlotte and informed me that she knows all about me and our wedding last year (lol).

So I booked myself an appointment with Charlotte for a Friday afternoon and was so looking forward to some pamper time – after all, what girl doesn’t love to look after herself? I had no idea what to expect and made a point of not heading over to my friend Google so I could have a fresh perspective.

As I arrived I was welcomed into the treatment room at the back of the shop and asked to lie down on the treatment bed which vibrated for a gentle back massage throughout and a lovely blanket to keep you cozy and warm. I was loving it already and the treatment hadn’t even started yet!

To begin, Charlotte asked me about my skin, what I was looking to try and whether I had any problem areas I’d like to address as she removed my makeup. I confirmed that I’d like to try the microdermabrasion treatment to give my skin a deep clean and that I had issues with acne, scarring and some dry patches around the lip area.

Microdermabrasion –  a cosmetic treatment in which the face is sprayed with exfoliant crystals to remove dead epidermal cells

We started off with the microdermabrasion and chatted about work, life, beauty and my blog – this part felt a big like sand being sprayed against my skin and quickly sucked away by what felt like a straw. I quite enjoyed this until it got to the eye area and some small aluminium crystals got into my eyes (serves me right for having my eyes open).

Once my skin was completely fresh, Charlotte then applied some gel like serums on my skin (I’m sorry I forgot to ask what they were, but some of them were quite minty!) and followed this up with a Caci skin rejuvenation treatment, using the machine to target some of my blemishes (ahem, spots). This machine is well-known and award winning for it’s non-surgical face lift treatments – you can read more about those here.

After some more serums, we finished off with a gel like face mask which covered my eyes – I then was left with just my thoughts which were racing from “ooh, my eyes are tingling, what if I’m getting a chemical burn?” to “well, this is what it must feel like to be blind” – can you imagine if we all knew what was racing through people’s minds?

Anyway, the mask was peeled back and my skin felt plump and the cleanest it’s ever been, my spots had reduced and the dry area was all but gone other than slight redness which you can see in the pictures below.

Once we were finished, Charlotte recommended I continue using my Alpha H exfoliator (you can find the entire Alpha H range on Beauty Bay) and to use a physical exfoliator such as one from Simple. I also mentioned during our session about the Ordinary and she was excited to try their products (she was practically buzzing when I told her about their Ascorbic Acid + Alpha Arbutin serum which was a dream combo) – I felt great that my wisdom had actually come to use and am hoping that she enjoys it!

Overall, I really enjoyed the experience and was over the moon that my Grandma being a loyal customer of over 20 years helped get me a discount (you know I love a bargain) – I would definitely recommend Venus Hair & Beauty for those of you local to Letchworth, the service was impeccable and the treatments amazing, you can find their website here and their Facebook group where they share any offers they’ve got going on here. I’ll definitely be heading back for another facial and possibly seeing what other treatments they offer.

Your Grandma is so glam getting a facial so often, bless her! That’s honestly goals. I’ve only ever had one facial in my life years ago but I remember feeling so glowy and soft afterwards. I’ve never had a microdermabrasion treatment though, it sounds ever so slightly scary what with the big machine but your skin is looking lovely so it definitely seems worth it! My skin has been really bad lately so maybe I should treat myself soon. The experience/service sounds like it was really worth a visit! I’ll have to have a search around for something similar in Birmingham to give my face a little pick-me-up.

Oh she is deffo a glam gran bless her! I’ll deffo go more often, my skin’s a lot nicer now than straight after the treatment, I had to cut out using our fave primer from Bourjois as it was making my skin go funny, but I wouldn’t have known otherwise! ❤️❤️

Ahh I LOVE a good facial!! I can’t believe your gran gets one that often, what a legend! Definitely want to be living my best life like that when I’m older. I had a microdermabrasion treatment back in September and it felt super weird but I remember my skin feeling SO soft afterwards! I especially love the little facial massage they do when applying products, so bloody relaxing!

I’m going to be sharing the whole process on our Tiktok account which you can follow @thealbonrenovation - the first post on there is just a video showing the whole house as it was when we bought it on Friday (it’s changed a lot since then!) - so give us a follow it you love a bit of home renovation! 🥳🥳 #firsttimebuyers #newhouse
When the snow was beautiful and didn’t disappear When the snow was beautiful and didn’t disappear ❄️ what a week it’s been! I’ve been shivering away, heating on full blast and my dressing gown wrapped around me as I work this week - I love the look of snow but hate the cold! Had a day of hypochondria where I had a cough and was convinced it was Covid - but turns out my husband knows me best and that it wasn’t. And that’s probably the most exciting bit of news I l have for you all! How are you all doing?!
Hello all! I’m trying not to leave too much time Hello all! I’m trying not to leave too much time between posts as I have been in the last few months, so I think a couple of weeks is an improvement! On our way home from food shopping last week (highlight of the week!) we decided to stop by one of my favourite spots to take some outfit photos, where the majority of what I’m wearing is second hand (bag, jacket and jumper). I’m getting extremely stir crazy, but at the same time have turned into quite the hermit, I miss going out for lunch with Aaron, mooching around the charity shops and going out to do site visits for work - let’s hope this vaccine helps bring some normality!

I decided to make myself feel like I was going somewhere tonight by putting a full face of makeup on, with the intention of sitting on the sofa sharing a bottle of Disaronno with Aaron to see the new year in! We might hit up the kitchen, the living room and Aaron suggested the bathroom but I wasn’t sure 😂 what have you got planned for tonight? And Happy New Year to everyone!
And that’s Christmas over for another year (alth And that’s Christmas over for another year (although let’s be honest, 2020 may as well not have happened!) and I just hope to god 2021 is a damn site better for everyone! Since I’ve been attempting to cut out purchasing brand new clothing all together, bar a few items such as underwear and pyjamas, I’m hoping once Hertfordshire is out of Tier 4 that I can head to the shops and do some serious secondhand shopping and use the vouchers I got to buy myself some new beauty bits. How was your quiet Christmas and have you got any beauty recommendations for me? #hertsbloggers #fashionbloggeruk #ukfashionblogger #ukstyleblogger #hertsbloggerlove #sustainablefashionblogger #secondhandfashionblogger #petitebloggeruk #petitefashionbloggeruk #outfitinspo #mylookoftheday #ootdshare #ukfashionblog #petitestyle #hertfordshirebloggers #funkyfashion #ukfashion #ootdinspo #canon700d #canon #amatuerphotography #aspiringfashionblogger #aspiringblogger
