Supermarket Fashion – are we on board?

11/03/2019

Being the fashionista I am, whenever I visit a shop I’m always drawn to anywhere that has clothing, whether that’s underwear, pyjamas, day to day clothes – I’m all over that like a rash. I love to have a rummage to see whether I can find a hidden gem that I can inevitably boast about whenever I get the chance. “Ooh I really like your dress”, I immediately reply; “Oh thanks, it was from TESCO!”

I’m sure if you follow me on Instagram (@gabrielleannealbon) and watch my stories, you’ll have seen the stand out item that I found in the F&F range in Tesco over the weekend. I was floating around all day on Sunday in this Gucci inspired, pleated skirt absolutely loving life. This got me thinking about clothing you find in a supermarket in general and what everyone’s thoughts are.

I’ll be honest, I think there are good and bad things you can get, pros and cons to shopping in them. So in true Gaby style, I’ve compiled a list of the good and bad things about supermarket fashion;

  • Reasonably priced – sometimes. If I’m going into Tesco and find a cute dress, I don’t expect to pay upwards of £20 – whether it’s unreasonable of me to think that is probably true, but it’s the general thought that comes to mind
  • Sometimes the quality is a bit shit – I’ve found Morrison’s dressing gowns a bit thin, whereas Tesco’s have pretty cozy ones, but Morrisons have amazing kids clothes (as do Tesco) – there’s pros and cons to everything
  • You can do your weekly shop AND buy an outfit!
  • They tend to cater for everything – need a new strapless bra because you’re going out, but the rest of the shops have shut? Hit up a supermarket!
  • If an item is popular, you’re bound to find loads of people with the same thing. I like to have some individual pieces in my wardrobe and knowing loads of people are going to have the same thing kind of ruins that for me
  • Their pyjamas ARE THE BEST. No joke, I think 90% of my pyjamas are from Tesco and I have no regrets
  • You can find things you didn’t even know you needed – the amount of times I’ve gone out food shopping and come across a dress/skirt/top/leggings/jeans is unreal

This skirt was the ultimate bargain and I know it’s something I’m going to be able to wear over and over – I just can’t wait for the summer when I can wear it with a cami and sandals!

I personally think we should all give supermarkets credit and a chance – you can find some amazing bargains, staple or stand out pieces – basically anything you could ever need!

Are you a fan of supermarket fashion and do you have a favourite item you’ve picked up from one?

That skirt is so bloody gorgeous! I absolutely love clothes from supermarkets honestly, I’m especially a fan of George. Not only are their clothes amazing but so is the homeware, if I ever need anything then George is my absolute first go-to. I started swimming recently and wanted some affordable swimsuits so I went on George and found two absolutely stunning ones that are actually so flattering on me – this is a rare find! I don’t look at Tesco’s clothing range often enough, I’m definitely going to after commenting as this skirt is stunning and I’m sure they have loads more lovely pieces like this. Love how you’ve styled it with the boots too!

Ahh thanks lovely and I need to head to George more often (my nearest one isn’t close to home so I don’t go there often if ever at all) – you’ve reminded me I’ve got a swimming costume from Tesco that’s absolutely gorgeous too 😂 all hail the supermarket clothing lines! 🙌🏻🙌🏻❤️❤️

Omg I am SO with you here. I LOVE supermarket clothing!! George and F&F are my definite go to’s. The F&F PJs are the BOMB and they’re such good quality and material! I have so many furry, velvet and super cosy sets from there. I recently bought the most gorgeous stripy culottes from George and I reckon they’re gonna be a huge staple in my SS19 wardrobe. If I know a lot of people are going to have the same piece as me I try to style a bit funkier so it looks a bit different!!

I think F&F is my fave of them all, looking at my wardrobe and pyjama collection probably shows that too 😂 I’ve got a striped pair of culottes from F&F that I picked up a few years ago and they’re one of my fave pairs of trousers! All hail supermarket fashion! 🙌🏻🙌🏻❤️❤️

Ooh how cute is this skirt?! Deffo Gucci inspired.. Love it! I’ve never really looked at clothes in supermarket’s before, but to be fair my local supermarket’s don’t even have a clothing range, so that’s probably why haha.. I need to start looking online, cos I bet you can grab some right bargain pieces in there xo

We’re now in the process of fixing it up and getting our bedroom ready to move in to, so hope we can get in next week! I’m going to be sharing the whole process on our Tiktok account which you can follow @thealbonrenovation - the first post on there is just a video showing the whole house as it was when we bought it on Friday (it’s changed a lot since then!) - so give us a follow it you love a bit of home renovation! 🥳🥳 #firsttimebuyers #newhouse
When the snow was beautiful and didn’t disappear When the snow was beautiful and didn’t disappear ❄️ what a week it’s been! I’ve been shivering away, heating on full blast and my dressing gown wrapped around me as I work this week - I love the look of snow but hate the cold! Had a day of hypochondria where I had a cough and was convinced it was Covid - but turns out my husband knows me best and that it wasn’t. And that’s probably the most exciting bit of news I l have for you all! How are you all doing?!
Hello all! I’m trying not to leave too much time Hello all! I’m trying not to leave too much time between posts as I have been in the last few months, so I think a couple of weeks is an improvement! On our way home from food shopping last week (highlight of the week!) we decided to stop by one of my favourite spots to take some outfit photos, where the majority of what I’m wearing is second hand (bag, jacket and jumper). I’m getting extremely stir crazy, but at the same time have turned into quite the hermit, I miss going out for lunch with Aaron, mooching around the charity shops and going out to do site visits for work - let’s hope this vaccine helps bring some normality!
And the final day of 2020 is upon us! I decided to And the final day of 2020 is upon us! I decided to make myself feel like I was going somewhere tonight by putting a full face of makeup on, with the intention of sitting on the sofa sharing a bottle of Disaronno with Aaron to see the new year in! We might hit up the kitchen, the living room and Aaron suggested the bathroom but I wasn’t sure 😂 what have you got planned for tonight? And Happy New Year to everyone!
And that’s Christmas over for another year (alth And that’s Christmas over for another year (although let’s be honest, 2020 may as well not have happened!) and I just hope to god 2021 is a damn site better for everyone! Since I’ve been attempting to cut out purchasing brand new clothing all together, bar a few items such as underwear and pyjamas, I’m hoping once Hertfordshire is out of Tier 4 that I can head to the shops and do some serious secondhand shopping and use the vouchers I got to buy myself some new beauty bits. How was your quiet Christmas and have you got any beauty recommendations for me? #hertsbloggers #fashionbloggeruk #ukfashionblogger #ukstyleblogger #hertsbloggerlove #sustainablefashionblogger #secondhandfashionblogger #petitebloggeruk #petitefashionbloggeruk #outfitinspo #mylookoftheday #ootdshare #ukfashionblog #petitestyle #hertfordshirebloggers #funkyfashion #ukfashion #ootdinspo #canon700d #canon #amatuerphotography #aspiringfashionblogger #aspiringblogger
