After two of my friends (both called Alice lol – Black Tulip Beauty And According to Alice) recently shared a post of this name, I felt obligated to follow suit and share a list of 50 things that make me happy – because we sometimes need to reflect and remind ourselves of the small things in life that make it great. So without further ado, here’s my list;
- Waking up to sunshine
- My in-laws’ dog Jake – he’s my favourite pooch and is adorable
- Mushy romcoms – current fave is Isn’t it Romantic
- The smell of fresh washing
- Not having to go to the Post Office to collect a parcel
- Snuggling on the sofa watching the telly with Aaron
- The feeling of stepping off the plane on holiday and feeling the heat – glorious
- Buying something second hand that’s never been worn and it’s something I’ve wanted for ages
- Getting a great response to a blog post I spent ages working on
- Inappropriately funny gifs – they never fail to make me laugh, although I’d never share them for fear of everyone judging me and my lack of moral compass
- My dad’s stupid hats that my sister Georgie and I used to hide from him because they were oh so embarrassing
- My god-daughters Annie-Mae and Miyah
- Getting exciting collaborations/sponsored posts
- Giving someone a compliment about what they’re wearing and knowing it made them smile
- UK Garage – makes me sing, MC and drive like a lunatic
- Caffeine free Diet Coke – I can enjoy my fave beverage and not be up all night after a can
- Receiving a 😂 emoji response to my Instagram stories – I aim to please
- Knowing one of my blog posts has helped someone out
- Having a lovely long bath with my laptop propped on the toilet, playing YouTube or whatever series I’m obsessed with on Netflix
- Listening to Aaron shouting at the TV with his headset on whilst playing the PlayStation (I’ve heard some corkers over the years)
- Christmas – need I say more?
- Homemade nachos
- Two for Tuesday at Dominos – with leftovers for lunch on Wednesday
- Poppies – deffo my all time favourite flowers
- Donating clothes to charity (whether that’s actual charity or family – my sister and cousins are always rooting to get my next lot of clothes I’m throwing out)
- Cleaning/dancing/singing around the flat on a Saturday morning – it’s a performance
- Catching up with an old friend like no time has passed at all
- Watching back our wedding videos
- Sunbathing with a good book on holiday
- Trying different foods while I’m abroad and living off the local specialities until I’ve had enough when we head back home
- Watching Gilmore Girls in the autumn (it’s become a thing every year)
- FaceTiming my Mum and catching up on everything in life (for those of you that don’t know, she lives in the US)
- Getting an almost daily Snapchat from Aaron of his radio whenever a funeral director advert comes on (there’s a story behind that one)
- Heading to the in-laws for a Sunday roast at 1pm every week without fail (unless Christmas is really close – we don’t want to ruin it!)
- Finding an amazing beauty product for a bargain price
- Looking back at old photos
- Group chats with my friends and workmates – full of banter and always make me smile
- Knowing that Aaron’s my husband and will have me to annoy him for life
- Aaron leaving me a cup of tea to re-heat in the microwave before he goes to work in the morning (I’m pretty sure I’ve grossed you out already)
- Singing random songs with my workmates – roll on karaoke night!
- Speaking of karaoke night, I love me some karaoke
- Girly nights in with my besties 😘
- My sister and her weirdness – she doesn’t buy kitchen roll and I find it so weird and hilarious at the same time 😂
- The Vengaboys – yes they only had probably two decent tunes at most, but try to tell me they don’t make you smile?
- Listening to true crime podcasts in the car
- Getting my daily phone call (just as I’m about to eat my dinner or watch a new show on TV – without fail) from my Dad and step-mum Fran every evening
- Finishing a series on Netflix in one day and feeling accomplished
- Chatting about said shows with my cousin Tammy who’s a serial binger like me (although I’ve been way ahead of her lately)
- Dancing around to the radio with Aaron (probably to the Vengaboys for extra laughs)
- Having this blog and connecting with so many people around the world
And that’s 50! I hope you enjoyed this list and would love to know what you’d include in your list, or go ahead and write your own! We all need to remember to smile about the small things in life and be grateful for the things we might take for granted.

BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM, I WANT YOU IN MY ROOM. Vengaboys are AMAZING mate, they bring back so many memories of being off my nut on fairy cakes and Haribo at kids parties. I haven’t actually done karaoke in years which is surprising seeing as I love to sing! Any Dominos is a good Dominos and I love me some homemade Nachos too. I also bloody love knowing my blog posts have helped people, it’s the absolute best feeling and reminds me there’s a real purpose to my little site 🙂

Weren’t they the bloody best?! Although they probably only had about 2 absolute belters 😂😂 and I’m going to be doing a little bit of karaoke in a couple of weeks for my leaving do- can’t wait! ❤️❤️
Aww I’m so glad you took inspiration from my post to make your own list! I do love a good rom com every now and then, I’m a horror movie kind of gal myself but I do dabble in a rom com every so often. Number 14 is one of my faves on this list, that’s one of my favourite things to do! I don’t think people randomly compliment each other enough, I’m always dishing out genuine compliments to people. I’ve never tried the caffeine free Coke but I’m a bit addicted to Coke Zero and Pepsi Max, I honestly drink it more than water oops. True crime podcasts are my fave!! Have you listened to My Favourite Murder? I’m currently listening to it and I love it so much.

I couldn’t pass up such a lovely post idea! And I totally agree that people don’t compliment each other enough! And I haven’t heard of that one – I’ll deffo have to give it a listen, I’m slowly running out of Redhanded episodes 😂 xx
