If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen a recent story where I showed this selection of lipsticks that I picked up in our local Superdrug when I was sniffing around the new bits they had in. I was after a red lipstick as I’ve unfortunately parted ways with my Mac Ruby Woo (I cannot for the life of me find it anywhere!) and this pack of lipsticks stuck out to me as if rays from heaven were beaming from behind it.
I of course had to pick them up as they were just £7 for a pack of five – two packs couldn’t even get you ONE lipstick from Mac, so the bargain hunter in me couldn’t resist.
I would have shown you the box they all came in, but I forgot to keep it for the purpose of this post and chucked it in the recycling; so I’m hoping these pictures will suffice.
To demonstrate all of the colours in the pack, my intention was to wear each shade this week after swatching them all. However, that’s not how it panned out and I’ll explain why a bit later on, however I’ve put in a photo of the swatches I took below (please excuse how pale my hand is, I’m due a bloody holiday and haven’t fake tanned for a while!)
On Sunday I tried out the Red Expressions with my Mac Spice lip liner underneath and LOVED it, I did have to dab it a few times after application, but it looked great when we headed out the door for food shopping and Sunday roast at the in-laws.
I tried out Red Born With It on Monday and found it was a bit too pinky for skin tone and had to re-apply a couple of times during the day as it went a bit patchy.
On Tuesday I tried out the Red Born With It and ended up taking it off as it looked like utter shit. The colour was lovely but it didn’t apply very well, came off on everything and when I went to the toilet for my morning loo break, I couldn’t believe that nobody had told me what a mess I looked.
If you’re after a lippy for a night out on the town (as long as you’re not planning on smooching everyone – it’ll definitely smear everywhere, so probably not worth it) then this is a great cheap option; you get a great pigment, sheen and it feels lovely. But if you want something that’s going to last you all day at work, then this isn’t a great option.
I’d like to give their lip paints a go, so let me know if you’ve used them in the comments below and make sure to share if you found this post helpful!
