Let’s not get it twisted, I’m a summer gal through and through – I don’t want the title of this post throwing you off, however, this afternoon as I sat on the sofa in my pyjamas after a savage cleaning session in my flat (Aaron found my long duster so I could finally get those bastard cobwebs that keep reappearing – we’re surrounded by trees so we’re often host to the cast of a Bug’s Life here) I looked out at the beautiful trees with the warm, classic autumnal colours of reds, oranges and browns when it dawned on me that there are a lot of things I love about the autumn. One of which being, storm Callum finally got rid of the stray plastic bag that’s been living in the trees for the last 2 years #councilestatelife – but I won’t include that as an official reason 😉
The Fashion
I wouldn’t be a great fashion blogger if this wasn’t one of the main reasons why I love autumn – layering, scarves, hats, boots, oh I love it all! Lucky for me, Femme Luxe kitted me out with some gorgeous knitwear just in time for the season and I am obsessed with all of it! I got to pick a few bits from their site and to keep in season, I picked some classic autumnal colours; red wine, mustard, rust and cream – gorgeous!
The Cosy Nights In
It’s not too hot, it’s not too cold, but cold enough to snuggle up under a blanket in front of the telly for the night (which is my favourite thing to do at the moment as we’re saving all the pennies for a house) with a cinnamon scented candle burning on the side. I also love that they show all of the Harry Potter films in the run up to Christmas – except for The Philosopher’s Stone, that one’s a bit shit.
The Outside World
I love walking through the crisp leaves that have fallen from the trees (that haven’t been sodden by the rain -slippery leaves piss me off), gazing around at the warm autumnal colours, feeling the warm sunshine on my face without feeling burned alive – England in the autumn is a beautiful place that I always forget about until it rolls around again.
Fun fact; the day I wanted to finish taking photos for this post was when the heavens opened and torrential rain poured down on the U.K. – suffice to say there are a lot of soggy leaves out there and I was not a happy chappy.
Pumpkins
I’m not going to lie, I’m not the kind of person that classes Halloween as a “holiday” because it’s not. However, I do love that there are loads of pumpkins everywhere and am more so this year as I want to attempt to recreate a pumpkin curry I had in Bali which was probably the best veggie curry I’ve ever had. Aaron gets to carve his pumpkin into something that’ll scare the postman, I get to cook – it’s a win win!
Thank you to Femme Luxe for collaborating with me on this post and for the gorgeous knitwear which I’ll be rocking until Spring – you can check out their full range here.
