The Smaller Bag Challenge

28/09/2018

I was at work having a chat with some ladies on my team about the size of our handbags after my colleague walked in after her lunch with a gorgeous leather satchel (we all joked she shouldn’t leave it alone or we’d nab it from her šŸ˜‰).
We then started showing our bags and my friend Sarah showed her small bag when I commented that I could never come to work with a small bag like that – I have far too much stuff (read that as; shit) to cart around! Everyone then laughed when I pulled out my bag and asked what on Earth I could possibly need to carry around with me all day?! Well the daily essentials of course! Two glasses cases (sunglasses and glasses), a purse, makeup bag, headphones, vape juice, two bottles (one of water, one of juice), receipts, un-banked cheques, hair clips and various tablets.
The ladies challenged me to go to work the following day with a smaller bag, because there’s no way that I need everything I carry around with me everyday “Two glasses cases that are EXACTLY THE SAME? You’re only wearing one pair at a time Gaby!”
I’ll be honest, I cannot remember the last time I went out without a handbag; I even had my Ted Baker bucket bag on our wedding day for God’s sake, so I was a bit reluctant to cut down on everything I haul around.
So I took the challenge and tipped all my shit on the sofa when I got home;

I cleared out the shit I didn’t need (old receipts, out of date cheques, empty tablet packets, a sheet of kitchen roll etc.) and pulled out a gorgeous dark brown leather cross body bag my Mum gave me when she was over in the summer that I was obsessing over whenever she wore it (thanks Mum!). The hitch was it was MUCH smaller than my current bag;

I took out one of the glasses cases, my makeup bag as quite frankly, I never bloody use it and popped everything I could manage (except for a bottle of water) into the smaller bag;

I’ve written this the day before I’m going back into work for the day, but am feeling optimistic about a day with a smaller bag; although it is a comfort for when I’m feeling a bit unsteady and need an excuse to crouch down. So Friday will be a day of getting out of my comfort zone and trying to function without my comfort items.
Let me know in the comments whether you’re a big or small handbag kinda gal, or if you head out without anything at all – HOW DO YOU DO IT?!
Until Next Time

    I’d say I’m more of an average bag kinda gal. My issue was that I always like to have my camera on me and I don’t yet have a snazzy camera bag as they’re bloody expensive so I liked a bag I could keep that in. My purse is also pretty beefy as I have about 10,000 loyalty cards that yes, I DO need at all times so I can claim my points!! (Although I can’t currently carry it around as I’m too weak post-surgery and it’s heavy, how hilarious is that). I’m going to have to convert to a slightly larger bag kinda girl now though as I have to carry a bag of stoma supplies around with me 24/7 just incase! It’s an excuse to treat myself to a few new additions though hehe.

      You’re so funny, but I must say that I do love me a loyalty card šŸ˜‚ and just imagine all of the amazing bags you can get to store everything in – you could get a big bag with all the sections so you can organise your life šŸ˜‚šŸ™ŒšŸ» and I’m waiting to get a better camera before getting a snazzy camera bag – the one I’ve got now just gets shoved in there šŸ˜‰ā¤ļøā¤ļø

Hello all! I’m trying not to leave too much time Hello all! I’m trying not to leave too much time between posts as I have been in the last few months, so I think a couple of weeks is an improvement! On our way home from food shopping last week (highlight of the week!) we decided to stop by one of my favourite spots to take some outfit photos, where the majority of what I’m wearing is second hand (bag, jacket and jumper). I’m getting extremely stir crazy, but at the same time have turned into quite the hermit, I miss going out for lunch with Aaron, mooching around the charity shops and going out to do site visits for work - let’s hope this vaccine helps bring some normality!
And the final day of 2020 is upon us! I decided to And the final day of 2020 is upon us! I decided to make myself feel like I was going somewhere tonight by putting a full face of makeup on, with the intention of sitting on the sofa sharing a bottle of Disaronno with Aaron to see the new year in! We might hit up the kitchen, the living room and Aaron suggested the bathroom but I wasn’t sure šŸ˜‚ what have you got planned for tonight? And Happy New Year to everyone!
And that’s Christmas over for another year (alth And that’s Christmas over for another year (although let’s be honest, 2020 may as well not have happened!) and I just hope to god 2021 is a damn site better for everyone! Since I’ve been attempting to cut out purchasing brand new clothing all together, bar a few items such as underwear and pyjamas, I’m hoping once Hertfordshire is out of Tier 4 that I can head to the shops and do some serious secondhand shopping and use the vouchers I got to buy myself some new beauty bits. How was your quiet Christmas and have you got any beauty recommendations for me? #hertsbloggers #fashionbloggeruk #ukfashionblogger #ukstyleblogger #hertsbloggerlove #sustainablefashionblogger #secondhandfashionblogger #petitebloggeruk #petitefashionbloggeruk #outfitinspo #mylookoftheday #ootdshare #ukfashionblog #petitestyle #hertfordshirebloggers #funkyfashion #ukfashion #ootdinspo #canon700d #canon #amatuerphotography #aspiringfashionblogger #aspiringblogger
Hello strangers! Thought I should pop on here and Hello strangers! Thought I should pop on here and let you all know I haven’t forgotten about this online world, I’ve just needed some time to myself after almost 5 years of continuous life sharing! I also haven’t been heading off anywhere glam or buying much to share on here, so today’s snap is a bit of a throw back to just before the first lockdown when I found this gorgeous wool blazer in @british_heart_foundation from @poloralphlauren 🄰 how are you all and have you managed to find any bargain secondhand finds?! ā™»ļøšŸŒæ
I’ll be honest and say that I’ve completely go I’ll be honest and say that I’ve completely gone off of Instagram over the last few months and popped on here this morning for the first time in weeks to see if I could get back into the swing again. To be honest I’ve been so busy with work most days, that when it comes to having some free time all I want to do is slob out, watch something on the telly and do nothing - I spend most of my life on my laptop or work phone, that the last thing I want to do when I’m finished is churn out more content. But I’ve come to realise that’s okay - I don’t need to let my social media dictate how I live my life, or feel bad about the fact that I don’t have certain things, can’t go certain places or live a certain life - because social media (and especially Instagram), is where people showcase their best selves and not necessarily what’s going on off screen. I realised a while ago that jealousy isn’t going to get me anywhere; I might look at someone online and envy their life, but should be thankful (and am!) for the life that I’ve already got - there’s always going to be someone worse off and everyone has different goals or ideals in life, so there’s no use in getting bogged down when I can’t afford to go certain places, have certain things, when I’ll get where I need to be in my own time. I just need to carry on doing my own thing and not let the Instagram envy get me down ā¤ļø
{GIFTED} Thank you so much to @kaolin.kiln for sen {GIFTED} Thank you so much to @kaolin.kiln for sending me these gorgeous earrings from her Etsy store - everything is zero waste and all packaging is 100% recyclable! I hope you’re all enjoying the gorgeous sunshine and making sure your skin is well protected from the sun - you don’t want to end up tossing and turning because you got burnt and turned into a radiator in a day! We went food shopping and out to the in-laws for our weekly Sunday roast, so I’m now spending the afternoon keeping as cool as I can in the flat, readying myself for another week of work in the heat!

I’ve spent most of the weekend holed up at home, sweating my tits off and binge watching Empire, but it was nice to leave the flat to do some food shopping and have a Sunday roast with the in-laws! On the way home we stopped at a field near home to take some photos for today’s post and it was fun to try out a new location, rocking my #secondhanddress I picked up from @scopecharity last weekend!
