For the final installment of my guide for fishing widows, I decided to interview my own fisherman husband for an insight into life of on the bank – I’m sure us non-fishing common folk wonder what the hell it’s all about, so what better way to get it?
Make sure to check out my first two instalments about the common lingo and how it affects your relationship if you haven’t already – all important in understanding!
I’m going to put it out there right now, Aaron can be very blunt and is VERY difficult to coax into a conversation if he feels under pressure (picture me glaring at him, phone in hand to take notes and asking probing questions like he’s never been probed before!) – his bluntness is one of the many reasons I love him *gushes* but I have edited out some of his profanities, which whilst I would normally share some, others don’t belong on my blog š

Q: What do you wish other people understood about fishing?
A: The reason you do it – it’s the chase if you were, catching that specific fish you want, your target, itās like winning a trophy!
Q: Whatās your favourite thing about it?
A: The social side of it, being out, having a laugh with your mates and just everything about fishing!
Q: What advice would you give to fishing widows that canāt seem to understand?
A: Fucking deal with it! Get a hobby. If you donāt like them going, thereās no advice you can give! Thereās no point in sugar coating it.
Q: How do you think fishing widows could understand it a bit better?
A: Go with them! See what they do!

Q: Whatās the one non-essential that you couldnāt live without when fishing?
A: I DON’T KNOW GABY! Errr, a powerbank to charge my phone?! Thereās not really one specific non-essential as everything I take is essential!
Q: What fishing essential do you think is worth investing in?
A: A good camera š·
Q: Whatās the most amount of money youāve spent on fishing gear and what was it?
A: Ā£400 on rods – it isnāt a lot as I buy a lot of used gear, but Iāll be spending about that much PER ROD next year when I buy them new
DISCLAIMER: this was news to me as he only just bought some rods!
And that’s it! The final installment in my guide for fishing widows, a Q&A session with a devout angler.
I’d love to know what you thought about this series; was it helpful, could you relate and is there anything else you’d like me to cover? Let me know in the comments below!
I’m going to go and enjoy my weekend and although it’s not Aaron’s rota, he’s bloody working šš
