If you follow me on Instagram, this post won’t be much of a surprise. But I wanted to talk about a new addition to my shoe collection as they fit in with my very strict criteria for shoes and they’re god damn beautiful!
I’m of course talking about my Doc Marten Gladiator sandals! This purchase was inspired by my friend Faye from work who has been donning these this summer and I knew as soon as I saw them that I would need a pair in my life – so shout out to Faye for the inspo!
I bought these using some vouchers I’d been gifted from my work for 5 years of service (still can’t believe I’ve been working there for so long!) from Amazon for £80 plus postage. I decided to go for the dark brown as the black looked a bit harsh and not as summery, they’ve got the classic rubber sole with a leather upper. The inner sole is a soft, suede like fabric which means no sweaty feet for Gaby!
They came with two sets of laces – the first set are elasticated and so bloody long that they’d be wrapped around my legs until they were at my thighs, so I decided to swap them out for the waxed cotton laces you normally get with their boots.
As a reminder for those of you that aren’t aware of my weird and wonderful ways when it comes to shoes, here’s an overview of what I look for when it comes to summer shoes;
✅ No Faux leathery, plastic inner sole – the foot sweat is real
✅ No flapping – I can’t wear shoes that are likely to fall off my feet as it’ll wreak havoc on my leg tremble if it were to happen (not long until I see the movement disorder specialist and I CANNOT WAIT!)
✅ Tight fitting – again, I can’t wear anything that’ll make my feet slide around, so I need shoes that fit my feet well
I know there are loads of other things I consider, but these are the key things that make a perfect pair of sandals for me!
Let me know what you think of my purchase in the comments and if you’ve got anything on your wish list at the moment!

Oh my….I think I’m in love!!!
Ooh I thought you might be a bit in love with them 😂😂❤️
DMs are the best!! I’ve lost count of how many pairs I have now but I can’t say I’ve ever had any sandals from them…yet haha! I have wondered if they take as long to break in as normal boots/shoes!? Or whether they’re comfy from the get go?… They look gorgeous on you and £80 is pretty damn decent for the quality of them especially when you’ll get years of wear out of them!
Alice Xx
Ahh Alice, I knew you’d be a fan 😂😂 and you don’t have to wear them in like you do with the boots which is heaven!! They’ve got so many different styles of sandal, deffo worth a look (they’ve got some chunkier ones I think you’d be a fan of – check out Asos!) ❤️❤️
