Things you’ll know if you have a sister

06/07/2018

In celebration of my little sister Georgie’s birthday yesterday, I decided for today that I’d dedicate a post to everyone that has sisters; because everyone loves a relatable sibling post!
George and I are the best of friends, very similar in a lot of ways, but completely different in others. I always describe her as a more extreme version of me to people that haven’t met her before, so when they do eventually cross paths they completely understand what I mean. She’s a MAJOR party girl, whereas I’m more about a night in front of the telly with a curry and Netflix. We don’t look as much alike now as we did when we were younger, but you can still tell we’re sisters, I’ve put in a couple of old snaps to show you what I mean;

Ages 5 & 6 – fresh out of America with the accent and all

Thanks for the velour trousers Mum & Dad 🙄
Ages 14 & 15 – how young, naive and adorable!

As we got older, found our “personal style” and grew into the women we are today, we’re pretty different!

Anyway, back to the subject of this post! Here’s a list of things you’ll know if you have a sister;
You talk to each other in different accents
I don’t know if this is due to our American roots, but George and I always revert back to our accents when we talk to each other – we also like to put on other accents when we’re being a pair of twats, which I think a lot of people will relate to.

You expose embarrassing things about each other
George was actually the person that got Aaron and I together when we were 15 (she basically lied to us both and told us we both said we fancied each other when we hadn’t – before social media was as huge as it is today 11 years ago) and LOVES to tell everyone about how I put a face full of makeup on to strut up the street to where they were playing football and pretend I didn’t know Aaron would be there – EXPOSED!
Stealing the other one’s shit – standard
George and I always had a rule when it came to clothes, shoes, accessories etc. THE OWNER OF SAID ITEM MUST WEAR IT TEN TIMES BEFORE THE OTHER CAN BORROW. What a pile of shit that rule was, I would always abide by the rules when George would rummage through my shit when I was out before rocking a brand new top I hadn’t worn ten times.
Screaming bloody murder at each other for stealing said shit
I think we can all relate to this, no?
You soon forget about the screaming and have a girly night with face masks, junk food and rom-coms
We love to have a girly night in watching There’s Something About Mary with homemade nachos, face masks and a good gossip!

One of you will not drive/have access to a car and call the other one like they’re a taxi service
George can’t drive, so I’m said taxi service. The latest trip was a Saturday morning when she woke up late for work, so she called her beloved sister to come and get her to take her in. I’d like to say this is an isolated occasion, but I’d be lying.
Getting really irritated by their face, voice and behaviour
We regularly piss each other off; she’s SO LOUD which pisses me off sometimes and I annoy her when I (unintentionally) bite my fork when I eat. She hangs up the phone on me ALL THE TIME, whilst I insist on getting pictures for the ‘gram which she says is “extra”. Her phone voice winds me up and my high pitched voice I get when I’m annoyed goes straight through her. There are so many things that we get annoyed about which sound so ridiculous and equally hilarious when you read about them – but that’s what sisters are like!

So if you’ve got a sister that you love with all of your heart, but could also 100% stab at times, let me know about some of the things you know in the comments below!
Shout out to the greatest sister in the world – I love you loads SISTERRRRR!!! ❤️❤️
Until Next Time

    I always get so emotional reading posts like this as it makes me feel like I’ve missed out so much! I adore my brother and he’s the best to run to when I need an honest opinion, a good restaurant/pub recommendation and a rant about either parents but I spent my childhood being a punchbag when he was into wrestling, a goalie when he was into football and apparently just an irritable nuisance when he was a teenage skater haha! I do wish I’d had the facemask nights, the clothes to borrow and the boy chats and it’s something I really want to give my children. There’s nothing more important than experiences and friends growing up! Your relationship seems wonderful and what beautiful ladies you both are.

    This was hilarious to read as I can relate so much! I have a sister who’s 2 years younger than me and we’re complete opposites; she’s always been so loud and bouncy (her nickname is Tigger) and I’ve always been a little bit more quiet and reserved. When we both lived together we definitely grated on each other, your last point was SO relevant about even their voice grating on you haha. Now that we don’t share a house it’s a lot different, we still take the piss out of each other but we don’t get as annoyed now. She’s alright really! Haha x

Hello all! I’m trying not to leave too much time Hello all! I’m trying not to leave too much time between posts as I have been in the last few months, so I think a couple of weeks is an improvement! On our way home from food shopping last week (highlight of the week!) we decided to stop by one of my favourite spots to take some outfit photos, where the majority of what I’m wearing is second hand (bag, jacket and jumper). I’m getting extremely stir crazy, but at the same time have turned into quite the hermit, I miss going out for lunch with Aaron, mooching around the charity shops and going out to do site visits for work - let’s hope this vaccine helps bring some normality!
And the final day of 2020 is upon us! I decided to And the final day of 2020 is upon us! I decided to make myself feel like I was going somewhere tonight by putting a full face of makeup on, with the intention of sitting on the sofa sharing a bottle of Disaronno with Aaron to see the new year in! We might hit up the kitchen, the living room and Aaron suggested the bathroom but I wasn’t sure 😂 what have you got planned for tonight? And Happy New Year to everyone!
And that’s Christmas over for another year (alth And that’s Christmas over for another year (although let’s be honest, 2020 may as well not have happened!) and I just hope to god 2021 is a damn site better for everyone! Since I’ve been attempting to cut out purchasing brand new clothing all together, bar a few items such as underwear and pyjamas, I’m hoping once Hertfordshire is out of Tier 4 that I can head to the shops and do some serious secondhand shopping and use the vouchers I got to buy myself some new beauty bits. How was your quiet Christmas and have you got any beauty recommendations for me? #hertsbloggers #fashionbloggeruk #ukfashionblogger #ukstyleblogger #hertsbloggerlove #sustainablefashionblogger #secondhandfashionblogger #petitebloggeruk #petitefashionbloggeruk #outfitinspo #mylookoftheday #ootdshare #ukfashionblog #petitestyle #hertfordshirebloggers #funkyfashion #ukfashion #ootdinspo #canon700d #canon #amatuerphotography #aspiringfashionblogger #aspiringblogger
Hello strangers! Thought I should pop on here and Hello strangers! Thought I should pop on here and let you all know I haven’t forgotten about this online world, I’ve just needed some time to myself after almost 5 years of continuous life sharing! I also haven’t been heading off anywhere glam or buying much to share on here, so today’s snap is a bit of a throw back to just before the first lockdown when I found this gorgeous wool blazer in @british_heart_foundation from @poloralphlauren 🥰 how are you all and have you managed to find any bargain secondhand finds?! ♻️🌿
I’ll be honest and say that I’ve completely go I’ll be honest and say that I’ve completely gone off of Instagram over the last few months and popped on here this morning for the first time in weeks to see if I could get back into the swing again. To be honest I’ve been so busy with work most days, that when it comes to having some free time all I want to do is slob out, watch something on the telly and do nothing - I spend most of my life on my laptop or work phone, that the last thing I want to do when I’m finished is churn out more content. But I’ve come to realise that’s okay - I don’t need to let my social media dictate how I live my life, or feel bad about the fact that I don’t have certain things, can’t go certain places or live a certain life - because social media (and especially Instagram), is where people showcase their best selves and not necessarily what’s going on off screen. I realised a while ago that jealousy isn’t going to get me anywhere; I might look at someone online and envy their life, but should be thankful (and am!) for the life that I’ve already got - there’s always going to be someone worse off and everyone has different goals or ideals in life, so there’s no use in getting bogged down when I can’t afford to go certain places, have certain things, when I’ll get where I need to be in my own time. I just need to carry on doing my own thing and not let the Instagram envy get me down ❤️
{GIFTED} Thank you so much to @kaolin.kiln for sen {GIFTED} Thank you so much to @kaolin.kiln for sending me these gorgeous earrings from her Etsy store - everything is zero waste and all packaging is 100% recyclable! I hope you’re all enjoying the gorgeous sunshine and making sure your skin is well protected from the sun - you don’t want to end up tossing and turning because you got burnt and turned into a radiator in a day! We went food shopping and out to the in-laws for our weekly Sunday roast, so I’m now spending the afternoon keeping as cool as I can in the flat, readying myself for another week of work in the heat!

I’ve spent most of the weekend holed up at home, sweating my tits off and binge watching Empire, but it was nice to leave the flat to do some food shopping and have a Sunday roast with the in-laws! On the way home we stopped at a field near home to take some photos for today’s post and it was fun to try out a new location, rocking my #secondhanddress I picked up from @scopecharity last weekend!
