Having some “me” time

23/07/2018

We all hear about how important it is to spend some time looking after yourself and doing things that are just for you.
That could be anything from a trip to the gym, a nice walk, going fishing (definitely not my thing), reading a nice book or having a nice pamper session with face masks, nail painting and binge watching your fave series online.
I decided this weekend was all about Gaby and I wanted to share some of the things I do to look after myself.

Switch off

Now I don’t mean turn off your phone completely, just put it down on the side and don’t get too engrossed in what everyone else is doing – you don’t want to be getting FOMO and missing the point of taking some time out for yourself.

Put on a face mask

I mean, who doesn’t love a good face mask?! I’ve been loving the L’Oréal Pure Clay ones and have been using the Blemish Rescue and Bright masks to look after my skin.

Do your nails

I was sat there with bare feet, looking at my grubby looking nail varnish and decided it needed to go. So I took it off, got my bargain UV light out that I’ve had for ages and picked a postbox red to put on my fingers and toes. Yes one of my nails has chipped already, but I feel a lot better for doing it.

Watch hours of your favourite show

This weekend was spent watching Good Girls (deffo worth a watch) and old episodes of Love Island. It was the perfect thing to do whilst painting my face with clay masks and sorting out my nails.

Read a good book or blog

I try not to delve into social media during “Gaby time” too much as it defeats the object of switching off. But I do love heading over to my favourite blogs for a read and bit of inspo, or picking up a book to read. I’ve not been very great with writing in my Dawn French diary since the wedding, so took some time to catch up, read the chapters in between the months I’d missed and write in little snip-bits or significant events.

Eat whatever the hell you want

Normally I’d order myself a curry (chicken naga, garlic naan and a plain rice thanks) but I haven’t had one in a while. This weekend was spent rummaging through the cupboards and fridge for leftovers, Pringles and popcorn. No regrets.

Pick up on your fave hobby

Mine is sewing and although I didn’t do any sewing this weekend, I did do some dress fittings for a bride and her bridesmaids, which is pretty similar. I love getting my machine out at the weekends and stitching away at whatever project I’ve got going on.
And that’s it for now! Let me know what you do for some “me time” in the comments below!
Until Next Time

This is basically my plan for tonight! I’ve just managed to finish off a post and now I’m doing my nails as a treat, and because they were severely neglected haha. I’m gonna stick Netflix on and treat myself to some chocolate, I reckon. I love that you mentioned putting your phone down as sometimes even though I’m doing a face mask to wind down, I’m still scrolling through my phone and not properly relaxing x

“eat whatever the hell you want” um YEP. I generally have quite a bad relationship with food being related to guilt at the moment due to my illness but when I’m feeling awful mentally and need some me time, sometimes you just can’t help but needing some pick-me-up munchies! You look adorable in these photos and I’m glad you had some time to yourself – it is well needed sometimes! I like to put a face mask on too and have a long bath full of bubbles and then cover myself in some nice smelling moisturiser afterwards. Catching up on blogs is deffo a good shout too although like you I do try and stay off of social media when relaxing!

Ahh thanks lovely! And yeah, social media can be the devil when you’re taking time out (writes this whilst laying in the bath 😂😂) and sometimes it’s good to listen to what your body wants – if I think it’s telling me I need a salad, then a salad it shall have. But if it wants an entire tube of Pringles, nachos and a bit of ice cream – OKAY! 😂😂❤️❤️

I think I need a weekend like this very soon! Can’t remember I spent some time focusing on myself and feeling good about it.
Also, the L’ORÉAL facemasks are amazing, I use the charcoal one on the reg x

We’re now in the process of fixing it up and getting our bedroom ready to move in to, so hope we can get in next week! I’m going to be sharing the whole process on our Tiktok account which you can follow @thealbonrenovation - the first post on there is just a video showing the whole house as it was when we bought it on Friday (it’s changed a lot since then!) - so give us a follow it you love a bit of home renovation! 🥳🥳 #firsttimebuyers #newhouse
When the snow was beautiful and didn’t disappear When the snow was beautiful and didn’t disappear ❄️ what a week it’s been! I’ve been shivering away, heating on full blast and my dressing gown wrapped around me as I work this week - I love the look of snow but hate the cold! Had a day of hypochondria where I had a cough and was convinced it was Covid - but turns out my husband knows me best and that it wasn’t. And that’s probably the most exciting bit of news I l have for you all! How are you all doing?!
Hello all! I’m trying not to leave too much time Hello all! I’m trying not to leave too much time between posts as I have been in the last few months, so I think a couple of weeks is an improvement! On our way home from food shopping last week (highlight of the week!) we decided to stop by one of my favourite spots to take some outfit photos, where the majority of what I’m wearing is second hand (bag, jacket and jumper). I’m getting extremely stir crazy, but at the same time have turned into quite the hermit, I miss going out for lunch with Aaron, mooching around the charity shops and going out to do site visits for work - let’s hope this vaccine helps bring some normality!
And the final day of 2020 is upon us! I decided to And the final day of 2020 is upon us! I decided to make myself feel like I was going somewhere tonight by putting a full face of makeup on, with the intention of sitting on the sofa sharing a bottle of Disaronno with Aaron to see the new year in! We might hit up the kitchen, the living room and Aaron suggested the bathroom but I wasn’t sure 😂 what have you got planned for tonight? And Happy New Year to everyone!
And that’s Christmas over for another year (alth And that’s Christmas over for another year (although let’s be honest, 2020 may as well not have happened!) and I just hope to god 2021 is a damn site better for everyone! Since I’ve been attempting to cut out purchasing brand new clothing all together, bar a few items such as underwear and pyjamas, I’m hoping once Hertfordshire is out of Tier 4 that I can head to the shops and do some serious secondhand shopping and use the vouchers I got to buy myself some new beauty bits. How was your quiet Christmas and have you got any beauty recommendations for me? #hertsbloggers #fashionbloggeruk #ukfashionblogger #ukstyleblogger #hertsbloggerlove #sustainablefashionblogger #secondhandfashionblogger #petitebloggeruk #petitefashionbloggeruk #outfitinspo #mylookoftheday #ootdshare #ukfashionblog #petitestyle #hertfordshirebloggers #funkyfashion #ukfashion #ootdinspo #canon700d #canon #amatuerphotography #aspiringfashionblogger #aspiringblogger
