Fluffy Sliders – are we on board?

11/07/2018

I know this post is going to potentially piss off a lot of people (mainly people I know IRL) but my heart is telling me I need to share this opinion with you all.
I hate fluffy sliders that aren’t being worn as slippers.

There we go, I feel better for saying it already and I’m sorry for my friends and family that are fans of the ugly things (in my defence I’ve probably already said it to your face). But I cannot fathom what purpose this form of footwear has. We wear fluffy things in the winter when it’s cold, but I’ve seen girls out in force, stomping around with them on their feet in the summer months and quite frankly, it’s about time someone bloody said something.
I’m not a fan of many things that don’t serve a purpose, so these fluffy sliders being up in my face all summer is really getting my goat. In preparation for today’s post, I headed on over to Twitter to ask my followers in a quick poll whether they love the fluffies or whether they should chuck ’em in the bin (unfortunately only 8 of my almost 1,900 followers answered, so let’s just say it isn’t very representative lol). Of the eight people that answered, the opinion was 50:50 – I wasn’t too sure what to make of this as I haven’t really asked anyone IRL that I haven’t seen wearing them whether they’re a fan or not (except for my husband, who said “they’re fucking awful.”)

I like sliders – I can’t say I own a pair due to my very strict criteria when it comes to finding shoes to wear in the summer (anything that will make my feet sweat is a no go – long story, but let me know if you’d like to hear more about that in the comments), but I always admire others that don’t have a complex about their footwear like me.
A quick Google search brings up hundreds of sites flogging the hideous things – no joke, I tried to find some sort of blog post that I could link to that shared my opinion, but I came up with sweet fuck all. Just hundreds of stores trying to sell sell sell or videos showing you how you can you create your own – what is this world?

Let me know if you share my opinion in the comments below, or alternatively if you’re a huge fan and think I’m being a bit of an arsewipe.
Give me a good old pair of Birkenstocks and I’ll be well away.
Until Next Time

They’re fugly and should not venture outdoors unless they are being launched into a bin!

I’m really funny about footwear in general, if it shows my toes then I’m usually really weird about it. I don’t know why, I just like it when feet are as covered as possible, including my own. Even though I think I have quite nice feet… doesn’t make any sense right? I like these as shoes for round the house but personally don’t think they should step foot (lol, pun) outside of the house. I do think they’re really cute but like you said, as slippers. But then they really don’t look like comfy slippers, maybe garden shoes? They’re just a bit pointless really and if I saw someone wearing them as part of their outfit, they’d definitely be labelled as ‘extra’ in my opinion hahaha. I love this post and your hatred for them!

That doesn’t sound weird at all, I’m really funny about having proper support on my feet so I think it’s a similar thing 😂 and loved the pun 😂😂 xxx

I completely agree. As slippers sure that makes sense but why would anyone wear these out in public. My sister owns a pair & I just don’t understand the fascination 😊

I wouldn’t even wear these around the house. They’re so gross and I just don’t see the point

I absolutely love those pink ones – I’d definitely wear them around the house constantly. I’ve seen girls wearing them around town and stuff though and I really hate to judge people for their personal choices, but I can’t help thinking they look silly. They definitely look like they’d make my feet way too hot. Plus they really do look like slippers – I’d want multiple colours but they’d be staying indoors x

Nooooo! I must confess I can’t stand fluffy sliders and they’re slowly taking over the world. I’m the same as you, I don’t mind the standard ones, but fluff should not be anywhere near a sandal ahahaha!

I love this post, it’s soo funny! I actually have two pairs from Primark and they’re super comfy – I don’t think I’d wear them out of the house though (unless I was visiting a friend and we were just going to be chilling at their house) because I’d be a bit embarrassed because they are so extra! I’d rather wear ‘proper’ shoes with a nice/well put together outfit xo

I decided to make myself feel like I was going somewhere tonight by putting a full face of makeup on, with the intention of sitting on the sofa sharing a bottle of Disaronno with Aaron to see the new year in! We might hit up the kitchen, the living room and Aaron suggested the bathroom but I wasn’t sure 😂 what have you got planned for tonight? And Happy New Year to everyone!

Since I’ve been attempting to cut out purchasing brand new clothing all together, bar a few items such as underwear and pyjamas, I’m hoping once Hertfordshire is out of Tier 4 that I can head to the shops and do some serious secondhand shopping and use the vouchers I got to buy myself some new beauty bits. How was your quiet Christmas and have you got any beauty recommendations for me? #hertsbloggers #fashionbloggeruk #ukfashionblogger #ukstyleblogger #hertsbloggerlove #sustainablefashionblogger #secondhandfashionblogger #petitebloggeruk #petitefashionbloggeruk #outfitinspo #mylookoftheday #ootdshare #ukfashionblog #petitestyle #hertfordshirebloggers #funkyfashion #ukfashion #ootdinspo #canon700d #canon #amatuerphotography #aspiringfashionblogger #aspiringblogger
Hello strangers! Thought I should pop on here and Hello strangers! Thought I should pop on here and let you all know I haven’t forgotten about this online world, I’ve just needed some time to myself after almost 5 years of continuous life sharing! I also haven’t been heading off anywhere glam or buying much to share on here, so today’s snap is a bit of a throw back to just before the first lockdown when I found this gorgeous wool blazer in @british_heart_foundation from @poloralphlauren 🥰 how are you all and have you managed to find any bargain secondhand finds?! ♻️🌿
I’ll be honest and say that I’ve completely go I’ll be honest and say that I’ve completely gone off of Instagram over the last few months and popped on here this morning for the first time in weeks to see if I could get back into the swing again. To be honest I’ve been so busy with work most days, that when it comes to having some free time all I want to do is slob out, watch something on the telly and do nothing - I spend most of my life on my laptop or work phone, that the last thing I want to do when I’m finished is churn out more content. But I’ve come to realise that’s okay - I don’t need to let my social media dictate how I live my life, or feel bad about the fact that I don’t have certain things, can’t go certain places or live a certain life - because social media (and especially Instagram), is where people showcase their best selves and not necessarily what’s going on off screen. I realised a while ago that jealousy isn’t going to get me anywhere; I might look at someone online and envy their life, but should be thankful (and am!) for the life that I’ve already got - there’s always going to be someone worse off and everyone has different goals or ideals in life, so there’s no use in getting bogged down when I can’t afford to go certain places, have certain things, when I’ll get where I need to be in my own time. I just need to carry on doing my own thing and not let the Instagram envy get me down ❤️

We went food shopping and out to the in-laws for our weekly Sunday roast, so I’m now spending the afternoon keeping as cool as I can in the flat, readying myself for another week of work in the heat!

We luckily managed to miss the rain both today and yesterday, so got to enjoy some sunshine for a little while! What have you been up to this weekend and have you managed to hit the shops since they introduced the mandatory face masks in shops?
