Skin & Makeup Update – post wedding

Skin & Makeup Update – post wedding

It’s been a couple of months since I last spoke about my skin and now that the wedding and honeymoon is out of the way, I thought it was about time I provided you all with an update.
For reference, here are some pictures from when I first started discussing my skin back in February;

If you want to hear some more about the products I was using, make sure to check out a couple of my last posts about Upping My Skincare Game and Update On My Acne Scarring Pre-Wedding.
I’ll be honest, since I got home I haven’t been that great with keeping up my skincare routine that I had from before the wedding – but that’s because I’ve found the best thing for improving my skin is SUNSHINE! Yep, get me out in the sun for long enough and my acne woes go out the window.
Whilst away, I kept up with protecting my skin using the moisturiser that I featured in my last update post and went virtually makeup free during the days (I popped on some mascara as my eyelashes disappear when I’ve been in the sun – hair everywhere seems to lighten when I’m out in the sun lol!)
Formula 10.0.6 Perfect Day Moisturiser
Since we got home, I’ve cut down my makeup to just a bit of concealer under my eyes (I picked up a Makeup Revolution Ultra HD one from the store in the Kuta Beachwalk shopping centre – it’s as amazing as the foundation) a dash of matte Seventeen Instant Glow bronzer all over, a few flecks of the NYX Micro Brow pencil in blonde to fill in my eyebrow gaps and L’Oréal Paradise mascara.
Summer Makeup
I go through two phases with makeup – complete obsession or barely there. I’ve found obsession happens in the colder months when your face isn’t going to melt off, then barely there in the summer when nobody wants to spend an age applying makeup when you could be out enjoying the beautiful weather.

Barely There Summer Makeup

It’s all well and good me talking about my makeup and how I’ve cut it down, but I’m sure you want to know what my skin looks like without anything on right?! Well, here are a few pics to show my progress (and there’s NO FILTER!)

I’m a little bit freckled from being in the sun (they always come out to say hi in the summer) but overall, this is the best my skin has been in a LONG time! I don’t really use the serums from the Ordinary anymore (but will reach for them if my skin needs it) and stick to washing with the L’Oréal Pure Flowers face wash and moisturising with the Simple Replenishing moisturiser.
I think the key to skincare is knowing how your skin’s needs change over seasons (well, for those of us that live in countries with seasons!) – I need a lot more moisture in the summer, but the sun helps dry up any breakouts quickly. I think I’ve only had one spot since we got home from Bali and that cleared up within a day or two. In the winter, I’m a lot oiler and prone to breakouts, so need to amp up my spot fighting products.
I’m a lot happier when my skin is looking good – it’s not completely flawless, you can see my pores, my freckles and fine lines, but I quite like that!
Let me know in the comments if you’ve had troubles with your skin and what you found helped you overcome it (doesn’t have to be acne!)
Until Next Time

Gaby no way!! Your skin is looking absolutely incredible and I am SO jealous right now. My post on my opinions of The Ordinary skincare is going up tomorrow funnily enough but I need some sort of miracle for mine to be looking anywhere near as amazing as yours. I’m genuinely so tempted to get some of that flowers face wash as I’m desperate for something to make me feel better about it. The sun isn’t really an option for me as the treatment I’m on suppresses immunity which means I’m at a much higher risk of skin cancer so I have to stay out of it, can’t bloody win! You look bloody beaut though, so happy it’s cleared up for you!

Ohh Alice!! I wish it could help you too – that’s really scary about the skin cancer stuff!! I’d be shitting myself whenever I walked out the door!! And thank you lovely, I still get the odd spots (irony of this post is I got two on my chin after this post went up 😂) and it’s not 100%, but I can live with that! ❤️❤️

Your skin looks absolutely amazing, you’re glowing!! I wish my natural skin looked that good. I do find that being in the sun helps, although I get really oily at the same time. I love your minimal make-up, it enhances your natural beauty rather than covering everything up. I can’t believe the progress! x

Ahh thank you lovely – just for the record it doesn’t always look like that 😂😂 I think the sun deffo helped that look along! Xx

your complexion looks amazing now! The sun helps my skin too and I think over the last 6 months I’ve been able to really understand my skincare needs and how it changes on the weather!

Same!! And I think it’s one of the many reasons I love summer so much – I just look and feel so much better!

Ah Gaby your skin looks so amazing! Wow! I bet you’re absolutely thrilled! I’m embracing barely there makeup during this hot weather too – it’s a lot easier to maintain xo

So much easier right?! I’m dreading the weather turning to shit again as my skin won’t be as glowy 😂❤️
