Just in case you didn’t know, I got married on Saturday the 26th of May 2018! I went from Miss Banner to Mrs Albon and it was the most MAGICAL day of my entire life.
We’ve received a few photos from Aaron’s friend and our photographer Tony (he usually specialises in wildlife photography but was lovely enough to offer his services for the day and was AMAZING – make sure to check out his Instagram here) and are just waiting for some more to come through, so this post is mainly about the ceremony – once we’ve had them all through I’ll be sure to write up a post with the entire wedding party, so you’ll just have to deal with a lot of photos of me with my HUSBAND!
Aaron and I have been together since the tender age of 15 at school – he lived around the corner from me and we used to see each other when he was playing football (very poorly) on the green near my house where I used to meet my friends and ogle at the lads, but I always fancied him.
Fast forward almost 11 years and here we are, standing at the altar exchanging our vows in front of all of our closest family and friends. We opted for a traditional church wedding in one of our local villages that some of my family have married at in the past which felt perfect.
I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous – but not about the lifelong commitment I was about to make, it was about walking down the aisle and hoping I didn’t trip on my dress and make my leg tremble happen. So I popped a diazepam, had a glass of champagne and immediately felt better, I binned off the idea of wearing heels as I didn’t feel comfortable (which is a shame as I bloody loved my shoes) and would rather know I’ll be okay than be vain.
Nothing felt real in the morning and it was only when I started to walk down the aisle with my Dad and Grandad seeing Aaron standing there looking oh so gorgeous that I started to feel the rush of emotion wash over me.
But I kept it together and held back the tears as we listened to our vicar deliver an amazing, heartfelt, but witty service before we exchanged our vows (the vicar mis-pronounced Albon which is said in a British accent as “ALL-BON” and Aaron repeated it back in the same way which made me burst out laughing along with the rest of the church, he also got a bit eager saying “I will” after the vicar read out one line which had everyone chuckling away). For a laugh, Aaron and I decided on one of our hymns being Jerusalem so my very patriotic Scottish Dad, Grandad and Uncle all had to sing about England – we love a bit of bants in my family and their faces were priceless.
After the ceremony and legal part of signing the registers, the bells rang as we walked out of the church together into the beautiful sunshine – it was a glorious day (I was boiling alive under all the layers of my dress) and the thunderstorms that were forecast held out until the night when we’d both passed out in the hotel and didn’t hear a thing – we both thought everybody was making it up 😉 . Our vicar (Rev Trev – what a legend!) said that the sun shines down on the righteous and I sure felt the same way when the sun beamed through the clouds that afternoon.
We had loads of pictures outside of the church with our families and friends, then jumped into a car for some photos together in front of the fountain in town – Aaron wanted to ride in the Rolls Royce his dad had hired for us as our reception was only across the road from the church, so it only seemed fair that he get to enjoy it as much as I did.
Aaron is the best thing that ever happened to me and it was only the on the Sunday night when I started to write this post as I was snuggled with my husband on the sofa that I started to cry with complete joy and happiness. He was exhausted from the whole weekend and had gone to get into bed when I went rushing in after him, bawling my eyes out to tell him how happy I was – we both knew it was only a matter of time before it happened 😉 .
We will have just arrived in Bali when this post goes live and I’m hoping to have some more photos to share with you all – it’s wedding spam week and I’m all for it. The next couple of weeks will be all about Bali which Aaron and I have been singing about in the run up to us jetting off “BALI, BALI, BALI, WE’RE GOING TO BALI!!” (read that in the tune of the Hannukah song Dradel and you’ll probably get it haha!)
