Inevitable things that happen in the run up to your wedding

30/04/2018

I’m not going to lie, this wedding related content will be continuing for just a little bit longer as we’re less than a month away from saying I do, with that in mind I thought it would be fun to round up some of the inevitable things that will happen when you’re getting closer to the day;

Drop-Outs

When it comes to a wedding, it’s inevitable that not everybody’s going to be able to make it. That fact doesn’t make it any easier to not spiral when someone says they can’t come and you’re a crazy-organised wedding planner that’s mapped out seating plans and only invited a certain amount of people to fit into your tiny church and venue. You then get the dreaded task of bumping up someone from your reception for the full day, trying to pick who should come when in reality you’d love everyone to be there for the whole day. Unfortunately it’s not always possible when you’re doing everything on a budget! NIGHTMARE!
Wedding Nightmares

These are a real thing and I kid you not, reflect all the wedding worries that are plaguing you at a particular time of the planning process. The last one I recall was before I had my makeup trial, I was three hours late, didn’t have anyone to do my makeup for me and my Dad was making me late. The closer the day gets, the more frequent they become and the latest ones have been about Aaron not wanting to see me or just being a straight up arsehole (which he isn’t… except for when he gets home from fishing for the weekend and hasn’t slept properly 😉). I can’t wait for the day to come and they bloody stop!
Table Plan Stress

Ahh the dreaded table plan, everybody that talks about their experience with wedding planning will know the stress of where to seat everyone for the wedding breakfast, so this wouldn’t be a true reflection of the challenges if I didn’t include it.
You might recall that I’d made a decision to throw a plan to the wind, however after some chats with my family and friends, I wanted to put one together to make sure each family mixes together and meets/mingles. What makes it difficult is when you have divorced parents, people that don’t speak anymore, children and families that should be sat together, unbalanced numbers of each family on a table – the challenges for each bride are endless!
PAYING FOR EVERYTHING

I don’t think there’s anything worse than saving up your hard earned cash to drop a whole lot of money on something, seeing your bank account balance drop as quickly as the stock value of Snapchat after Kylie Jenner sent the infamous tweet about how it’s dead. I’ve become such a saver since we got engaged and I’m gutted to start all over again for our house (although there should be some pennies left after thank god!)
Hair and makeup trials

As we covered earlier, I was having nightmares about my wedding makeup which thankfully have subsided after my trial. But I was so worried that I would be an arsehole about everything when Lauren was doing my makeup, when in reality I was super chill.
I also felt bad for my friend Chloe when I was doing my hair trial on Saturday (I’ve decided to keep my hair a surprise – otherwise you’ll all know pretty much everything!) as I was being a bit picky about having my fringe down, then up, then we had a mare trying to fit in my veil, but we got it all sorted in the end! In my defence, she told me to be really picky and I took that advice on board!
All I’m saying is it’s inevitable that your initial idea of what you want doesn’t always end up being what you want after all!
Hen-do fiascos

The teenage Gaby inside of me can’t help but panic that nobody’s going to show for my hen do, I’ve had a lot of people message me to say they can’t make it and as I’m not the one planning everything, I can’t help but worry about it!
My sister Georgie is my maid of honour and the complete opposite to me in as many ways as we’re the same – she’s the crazy, last-minute planning kinda gal, where as I’m the extremely-organised, must know everything sister. She’s so chill about it all, but I can’t help but panic! What if nobody comes? What if everyone hates what I wanted to do?!
I’m sure there are many more things I can add to this post which will crop up over the next couple of weeks, but I’ll probably share those after the big day – I can see the next few weeks being a blur of planning, seeing my family coming over from the US, nagging Aaron about picking up his suit and fixing/altering the bridesmaid dresses!
Have you got any tips on what I should expect to happen over the next few weeks? Let me know in the comments below!
Until Next Time

There’s always a suggestion that you should mix up the tables when your doing your plan, families and friends should be mixed etc etc – but really should it be like that – when I have been to weddings – it’ can be awkward approaching that table where your friends aren’t sitting !! Honestly your mates would have a better time sat together – people naturally mingle anyhow – just a a bit of advice – who would you rather be sitted next to if your were a guest – your friends or a stranger x don’t feel you have to follow a rule book – do what you feel is best – after all it’s your day and you want your guests to have as much fun as poss ! Xxx

Ahh thanks lovely! I’ve tried to mix and keep people together that know each other at the same time, so hoping it’ll pan out alright! Xx

I can imagine the seating plan being soo difficult.. I guess you just have to forget about pleasing everyone else (cos that will never happen anyway haha) and do what you want to do! It’s so much easier said than done though and I can imagine it’s all very stressful. It will be worth it in the end though when you’re walking down the aisle to Aaron 🙂 It’s soo exciting!!xo

It’s probably one of the most stressful parts – but I think I’ve nailed it now thank god, just got last minute bits to sort now! ❤️

Oh gosh I don’t know how I’d cope with the last minute stress, I’m such an organised person and my anxiety literally feeds off of last minute changes. I once had a panic attack because my friend moved the start of her band rehearsal time by half an hour… haha! Despite all of this, I bet you’re so damn excited, I can’t believe how close it’s getting! At the end of the day, even if its only you, Aaron and the priest that shows up (which will obviously not happen) you’re there to get married for YOU and show your love for one another and that’s all that matters! I hope you have the best time on your hen do too!!

I absolutely love that wedding planner, it’s so gorgeous! I’d definitely be needing one of those because I just know I’d end up forgetting something really vital if I wasn’t completely organised. The number one struggle for me would be saving all that money, weddings are so bloody expensive nowadays! I’ve still got all this to experience one day though. I’m just so excited to see all your photos and hear all about your special day! It’ll be worth it in the end x

Ahh I don’t know what I would have done without it – it’s also super satisfying to tick stuff off the to-do list (I love a good to do list!) and have a little memento from the planning! The saving hasn’t actually been too bad, just picked up bits as time has gone on really! Xx

Ahh I know! I did have a dream that I caught Aaron with another woman on our wedding night in the hotel after the wedding 😂 but I think I should be good now! ❤️

We’re now in the process of fixing it up and getting our bedroom ready to move in to, so hope we can get in next week! I’m going to be sharing the whole process on our Tiktok account which you can follow @thealbonrenovation - the first post on there is just a video showing the whole house as it was when we bought it on Friday (it’s changed a lot since then!) - so give us a follow it you love a bit of home renovation! 🥳🥳 #firsttimebuyers #newhouse
When the snow was beautiful and didn’t disappear When the snow was beautiful and didn’t disappear ❄️ what a week it’s been! I’ve been shivering away, heating on full blast and my dressing gown wrapped around me as I work this week - I love the look of snow but hate the cold! Had a day of hypochondria where I had a cough and was convinced it was Covid - but turns out my husband knows me best and that it wasn’t. And that’s probably the most exciting bit of news I l have for you all! How are you all doing?!
Hello all! I’m trying not to leave too much time Hello all! I’m trying not to leave too much time between posts as I have been in the last few months, so I think a couple of weeks is an improvement! On our way home from food shopping last week (highlight of the week!) we decided to stop by one of my favourite spots to take some outfit photos, where the majority of what I’m wearing is second hand (bag, jacket and jumper). I’m getting extremely stir crazy, but at the same time have turned into quite the hermit, I miss going out for lunch with Aaron, mooching around the charity shops and going out to do site visits for work - let’s hope this vaccine helps bring some normality!
And the final day of 2020 is upon us! I decided to And the final day of 2020 is upon us! I decided to make myself feel like I was going somewhere tonight by putting a full face of makeup on, with the intention of sitting on the sofa sharing a bottle of Disaronno with Aaron to see the new year in! We might hit up the kitchen, the living room and Aaron suggested the bathroom but I wasn’t sure 😂 what have you got planned for tonight? And Happy New Year to everyone!
And that’s Christmas over for another year (alth And that’s Christmas over for another year (although let’s be honest, 2020 may as well not have happened!) and I just hope to god 2021 is a damn site better for everyone! Since I’ve been attempting to cut out purchasing brand new clothing all together, bar a few items such as underwear and pyjamas, I’m hoping once Hertfordshire is out of Tier 4 that I can head to the shops and do some serious secondhand shopping and use the vouchers I got to buy myself some new beauty bits. How was your quiet Christmas and have you got any beauty recommendations for me? #hertsbloggers #fashionbloggeruk #ukfashionblogger #ukstyleblogger #hertsbloggerlove #sustainablefashionblogger #secondhandfashionblogger #petitebloggeruk #petitefashionbloggeruk #outfitinspo #mylookoftheday #ootdshare #ukfashionblog #petitestyle #hertfordshirebloggers #funkyfashion #ukfashion #ootdinspo #canon700d #canon #amatuerphotography #aspiringfashionblogger #aspiringblogger
