Okay, I’m not taking ANY credit for this post idea as it was completely inspired by one of my all time favourite YouTubers Helen Anderson (she’s one of the realest, grunge glam gals out there and I’m all for it!) who recently posted a video about the clothes she won’t ever throw away – not wardrobe staples, just things she loves because… she does or things that have a sentimental value. Check it out here if you haven’t already;
If you’re a long-time follower of mine, you’ll know that I recycle outfits as much as I do my plastics and Instagram photos, so there are definitely quite a few bits that I’ve held onto for reasons that I sometimes don’t understand – and here’s a few of them!
Bardot Floral Print Top
I’ve had this top for a few years and I just CANNOT let go of it – it’s perfect for spring, can be worn as a tee or off shoulder as a Bardot style top, is made beautifully and it cost me just THREE POUNDS in a New Look sale. I think the sentiment behind this one is the bloody bargain I bagged that day. This will be staying forever as the best £3 ever spent. I also spent a lot of time in it last summer when I was jaundiced, yellow AF and wanting to feel pretty 😂
My discoloured classic Ugg boots
I’m well aware these are extremely discoloured and quite frankly – disgusting. But I can’t let go, the inner sheepskin on the insoles has disintegrated, the soles have no grip remaining, but I still insist on keeping these disgusting old things. Why? Because I wanted to have a genuine pair SO BADLY when I was a teen, that when I finally got them, I felt so proud and happy I could finally afford to have a pair. I can’t allow teenage Gaby’s wishes to be thrown in the bin, so they will remain in my life – mainly as slippers and shoes to wear in the snow, but they will stay.
Topshop Summer Dress
I’ve had this dress for bloody YEARS! Aaron’s sister Kerry-Anne gave it to me in a big pile of clothes she was getting rid of and I still love it! I’m gutted I don’t have any proper pictures which show the entire dress (which will definitely be on my list of items to photograph on our honeymoon this year), but these pictures go back to around 2011 (sorry for the cringey pics George and Tam – haha not really!)
I pulled out a bag of my summer clothes the other day and squealed with glee when I found it. It’s been on every holiday since I was about 18 and I still pull it out every summer. I think because Keg gave it it me, I just can’t part!
Tropical Print Topshop Bikini
I don’t know if it’s just me, but I have a go-to holiday bikini that has to come with me wherever we go – I bought this on eBay before we went to Turkey in 2012 and have taken it with me everywhere since. I don’t seem to have any more snaps of me wearing it in any other country than Turkey, but it’s a firm fave and always reminds me of my amazing travels with Aaron. Is it weird I think that about a bikini? Probably.
Blue Bandana
Okay, my hair is DARK here, we can call that an age 19 crisis and leave it there (we all know I’m a blonde through and through). But this haggard old bandana was something I picked up in Tunisia (terrible place to holiday IMO) when we were quad-biking in the desert to cover our faces from all of the sand. I keep it in my makeup drawer as it always reminds me of my cousin Stuart driving straight into a tree, Aaron and I howling at how hilarious it was and then riding through some random barbed wire (because that’s what you find in the desert?!) and it getting wrapped around the tyre, probably karma for us cracking up lol.
My Beloved Boots
I’m sharing two pairs for this section as I got them both around the same time and have only worn each pair once – but they’re SO PRETTY and I can’t part with them.
If you wondered what my “Aladdin Boots” were from my post where my Dad styles my outfit, the black and gold embroidered boots are them. Nicknamed by my cousin Tammy who doesn’t understand a lot of what I wear 😂
Aaron bought me the Aladdin boots and my sister George bought me the glitzy bedazzled ones – what’s not to love?! I never bloody wear them, but I don’t care.
My Doc Martens
Who would I be if I didn’t include these in this post? If you scroll through this blog, my Facebook page or my Instagram, you’ll see that my love for these boots knows no bounds. I wear them ALL the time and would definitely say they’re my favourite shoes of all time. They were a bitch to break in, but are now the most comfortable pair of shoes I own. Aaron – best present (well almost – I guess the engagement ring trumps it lol) ever.
I think I’m going to end this post here – I hoard A LOT of clothes with various meanings to me (mostly not – I just love clothes, can you tell?!) and could go on and on. But you have lives, so I’ll just end by asking what is your most treasured item of clothing?

Awesome pictures !
Ahh thanks – a lot of oldies in this post!
Ooh I’ve had a post like this on my to do list for a while but more about stuff rather than clothes!! I have a giant Patrick Star (from Spongebob) teddy that I just can never throw away 😂 NEVER throw the DMs out, I threw my first ever pair out recently but tbf I had them for about 8 years and they had holes in everywhere haha! I love those pairs of boots, they are bloody fabulous AND I’m totally feeling you about the floral top, I picked up a bargain £7 dress from New Look recently and I can see it being one of my favourites i’ve ever owned!

That’s hilarious 😂😂😂 I’ve got a round pink pillow that you used to be able to plug your mp3 (LOL mp3!) player into a listen to music while you laid on it – no longer works but I can’t throw it out 😂😂 and you deffo need to do a post like this!! Xxx
Such great pieces! I have some dresses and shoes that I won’t rid of either! They hold too much sentimental value!
Ahhh thank you! The Ugg boots are definitely the grubbiness of all 😂 but I love something with sentiment!
I’m soo bad for hoarding clothes, I have soo many!! I’ve also just bought a pair of glitter ankle boots and I can’t decide if I love them or not.. xo

I’ve gotten a lot better at throwing stuff out – deffo think you should keep the glitter ankle boots! ❤️
I absolutely love this idea, I might have to steal it one day! I’ve got so many clothes that I just can’t seem to let go of and have served me so well for years. I love the outfit with the floral skirt and Docs, so gorgeous! x
