My Wardrobe Necessities 2018

03/01/2018

It’s 2018 and I don’t know about you, but a new year always gets me thinking about what I need to add to my wardrobe – every New Year’s Day I contemplate who I’d like to be for the year; whether that be a rocker chick, a bit of a hippy girl, a suave #Girlboss or a classic chav (jk, I haven’t been a chav since my early teens rocking some Nike Dunks, velour tracksuit, big hoop earrings and my “signature” chunky G pendant necklace from Argos).

I can’t believe it’s been an entire year since I really went to town on this blog and two years since it all began – I love how I’ve carried on and stuck it out, but one of the best things is being able to watch my style evolve over time. It’s funny looking back at my outfits from the beginning of 2016 to now.

Anyway, this is not a time for reflection, it’s time for action. I’m here to talk you through some of the essentials I already have or will be adding to my wardrobe for 2018.
1. Who would I be if I didn’t include my favourite staple Doc Marten boots to this post? They’ll continue to be a staple in my wardrobe as they give everything such an edge, make me feel sassy AF and are just the greatest boot of all time.

2. For the rest of Winter, I’ll be rocking my favourite mustard knitted hat – I’m sure if you follow me on Instagram that you’ll have seen this hat appear in almost all of my recent posts #sorrynotsorry. I’d also like to add to my collection of beanie style bobble hats – I’ve got about four now in black, navy, mustard and khaki. I love to wear these in the winter and keep my precious noggin warm that’s full of entertainment for you all!

3. My new Topshop Jamie jeans – I’ve heard so many people talk about how great they are, but have always been a devout Joni/Leigh jean fan, Aaron bought me a pair for Christmas so I can now say I’m 100% on board and will be rocking them throughout the year.
4. The Ray Ban Clubmaster Sunglasses are here to stay! I’ve had them for coming on two years and am still not bored of them. However, I would like to add a round pair to my collection this year so watch this space!

5. I’m sure you’ll have seen that I’ve been adding some structured shirts to my Etsy store if you’re following me on social media, so I’d like to add to that and continue wearing some more structured pieces like shirts, blazers and tapered trousers – timeless classics!

6. Next up I really want to get a mustard coloured (can you tell there’s a thing going on here with this colour) biker jacket – I’ve been wanting one for months now and think that I need to invest as this urge hasn’t gone away! This one from Boohoo looks right up my alley and a bargain at £25!
In terms of what’s to come for Spring/Summer 2018 – I’m afraid I haven’t thought that far ahead yet, so stay tuned for a post which will no doubt go up in March when I share an annual birthday wish list (Jesus, just remembered I’m going to be twenty-six in April 😳) – family you’re welcome.

I LOVE DMs! I have about 6 pairs or so currently and they’re just the best shoes (once you break them in). You look gorgeous in mustard too, I wish I could pull it off so badly but it just doesn’t go with my skin tone/hair at all 🙁 excited to see you rock the jacket when you get it!

I absolutely love the mustard hat, mustard has been one of my favourite colours to wear for the last few months now. I love the coat you’re wearing! I want to go and find some structured shirts now, they’d be perfect for work x

I decided to make myself feel like I was going somewhere tonight by putting a full face of makeup on, with the intention of sitting on the sofa sharing a bottle of Disaronno with Aaron to see the new year in! We might hit up the kitchen, the living room and Aaron suggested the bathroom but I wasn’t sure 😂 what have you got planned for tonight? And Happy New Year to everyone!
And that’s Christmas over for another year (alth And that’s Christmas over for another year (although let’s be honest, 2020 may as well not have happened!) and I just hope to god 2021 is a damn site better for everyone! Since I’ve been attempting to cut out purchasing brand new clothing all together, bar a few items such as underwear and pyjamas, I’m hoping once Hertfordshire is out of Tier 4 that I can head to the shops and do some serious secondhand shopping and use the vouchers I got to buy myself some new beauty bits. How was your quiet Christmas and have you got any beauty recommendations for me? #hertsbloggers #fashionbloggeruk #ukfashionblogger #ukstyleblogger #hertsbloggerlove #sustainablefashionblogger #secondhandfashionblogger #petitebloggeruk #petitefashionbloggeruk #outfitinspo #mylookoftheday #ootdshare #ukfashionblog #petitestyle #hertfordshirebloggers #funkyfashion #ukfashion #ootdinspo #canon700d #canon #amatuerphotography #aspiringfashionblogger #aspiringblogger
Hello strangers! Thought I should pop on here and Hello strangers! Thought I should pop on here and let you all know I haven’t forgotten about this online world, I’ve just needed some time to myself after almost 5 years of continuous life sharing! I also haven’t been heading off anywhere glam or buying much to share on here, so today’s snap is a bit of a throw back to just before the first lockdown when I found this gorgeous wool blazer in @british_heart_foundation from @poloralphlauren 🥰 how are you all and have you managed to find any bargain secondhand finds?! ♻️🌿
I’ll be honest and say that I’ve completely go I’ll be honest and say that I’ve completely gone off of Instagram over the last few months and popped on here this morning for the first time in weeks to see if I could get back into the swing again. To be honest I’ve been so busy with work most days, that when it comes to having some free time all I want to do is slob out, watch something on the telly and do nothing - I spend most of my life on my laptop or work phone, that the last thing I want to do when I’m finished is churn out more content. But I’ve come to realise that’s okay - I don’t need to let my social media dictate how I live my life, or feel bad about the fact that I don’t have certain things, can’t go certain places or live a certain life - because social media (and especially Instagram), is where people showcase their best selves and not necessarily what’s going on off screen. I realised a while ago that jealousy isn’t going to get me anywhere; I might look at someone online and envy their life, but should be thankful (and am!) for the life that I’ve already got - there’s always going to be someone worse off and everyone has different goals or ideals in life, so there’s no use in getting bogged down when I can’t afford to go certain places, have certain things, when I’ll get where I need to be in my own time. I just need to carry on doing my own thing and not let the Instagram envy get me down ❤️
{GIFTED} Thank you so much to @kaolin.kiln for sen {GIFTED} Thank you so much to @kaolin.kiln for sending me these gorgeous earrings from her Etsy store - everything is zero waste and all packaging is 100% recyclable! I hope you’re all enjoying the gorgeous sunshine and making sure your skin is well protected from the sun - you don’t want to end up tossing and turning because you got burnt and turned into a radiator in a day! We went food shopping and out to the in-laws for our weekly Sunday roast, so I’m now spending the afternoon keeping as cool as I can in the flat, readying myself for another week of work in the heat!

I’ve spent most of the weekend holed up at home, sweating my tits off and binge watching Empire, but it was nice to leave the flat to do some food shopping and have a Sunday roast with the in-laws! On the way home we stopped at a field near home to take some photos for today’s post and it was fun to try out a new location, rocking my #secondhanddress I picked up from @scopecharity last weekend!
Finally managed to grab a few photos this afternoo Finally managed to grab a few photos this afternoon and was so excited to share this #secondhand dress I picked up from a vintage shop in Hitchin yesterday, along with a load of other bits from various charity shops! We luckily managed to miss the rain both today and yesterday, so got to enjoy some sunshine for a little while! What have you been up to this weekend and have you managed to hit the shops since they introduced the mandatory face masks in shops?
