You may have noticed (or not, I understand your lives don’t revolve around my blog…) that I haven’t posted an update on my Etsy store this month. I’ll be totally honest, the madness of Christmas, New Year and returning to work has left me feeling knackered when I get home, so I haven’t had the energy to upload many new listings.
No joke, I’ve had the same sad shirt on my mannequin for weeks, just waiting for me to get off my arse, finish it off and get it up on my store!
It also hasn’t helped that Aaron hasn’t been fishing as much as usual because of the cold weather, so I haven’t had full reign of the flat, turning it into a sweat shop full of scrap fabric, stray threads and pins all over the floor. Some people may think I’m mental for not minding him spending two nights every other weekend fishing – but quite frankly, it’s a great time for me to get creative and at least I know where he is 😉
However, the sewing mojo is back people as I finally MADE MY FIRST SALE!!!
I woke up Thursday morning, groaning about having to leave the delightful pit I’d lovingly sunken into throughout the night, and laid there catching up on the emails and notifications I’d received during the night – chastising Wowcher in my head for sending me endless emails (WHY CAN’T I UNSUBSCRIBE FROM THEIR GOD DAMN EMAILS?!), before I noticed one from Etsy congratulating me on my first sale!
I couldn’t bloody believe that after a couple of months of hard work, I’d finally managed to sell one of my treasures to an amazing human being that made the great decision to purchase from me (I’m ever so grateful to this wonderful person who I won’t name as it’s probably unethical of me to do so on here lol)!
I ran into the living room to tell Aaron about the great news, then sat there with my cup of tea and dropped the buyer an email to thank them for their purchase and confirm I’d be posting their order shortly.
I think I was probably more excited about the fact that I was finally going to be able to use one of my signature yellow shipping bags (in line with the colour scheme of this blog, I wanted my Etsy store to be the same – of course), my shipping labels with my logo on and getting to create a customised thank-you note to go inside. I had a major brain wave when I got home from work about what I wanted my thank you note to look like and was over the moon with the finished look!
So, what was it that I ended up flogging?
This little bad lad is on its way to a new owner, who I’m hoping will have a huge grin on their face just like me 😉
While I’m here and the sewing mojo is back on, here are a couple more bits which have been added to my store since my last update. Each photo is linked to the item if you’d like to join the #MyFashionFauxPas crew and make a cheeky purchase (shameless self-advertisement going on here);
I’m hoping that I should have some more items coming up again very soon and will check back in with you all with a progress update next month!
Now excuse me whilst I go and dust off the sewing machine 😉
