I’m all about sharing the good, the bad and the ugly on The Fashion Faux Pas of Gabrielle – and we all know from the masses of other fashion bloggers on the internet that everyone takes hundreds upon hundreds of photos for outfits we feature in our posts (I’ve lost count of the amount of times I’ve read or heard this on the internet).
But what you might not know, is that not all fashion bloggers work in this way. We don’t all go out for shoots to feature outfits in posts which are totally irrelevant to what we’re writing about (I don’t know why, but this really gets my goat – I like my pictures to be relevant to what I’m writing about). We don’t all obsess over not getting the right shot, or getting multiple angles of the same outfit – some just point, shoot and go with what they’ve got.
I obviously try to pick my best shots (because deep down, I’m a vain bitch) but always make sure to keep the shit ones – I like to remind myself that I’m not on point all the time and I don’t give a shit.
So for fun, I decided to round up some horrific but amusing shots of me where I haven’t been showcasing my fabulousness all in the name of giving everyone a laugh and being honest with you all.
I normally tend to upload just one outfit picture on Instagram from a few shots – so you may well recognise a lot of the outfits shown in this post if you’ve been a follower of mine throughout the year.
So without further ado, here are some of the gems I found;
The vacant look is one I’ve got nailed – stare into space and hope for the best.
I’ve found that looking away from the camera can go very wrong and to ready myself for a morning OOTD shot, I’m better after having a warm up of stupid faces 😉
I also find camera angles can make or break a shot – too low down and my chin looks like it’s making its way to heaven, too high and I look like I’m a foot shorter. Also, can we just take a moment to admire the face I’m pulling in photo 3 above – you’re welcome internet.
I like to give Aaron a bit of a laugh during our quick shoots whilst I walk out of our block of flats – he’s not the most patient photographer so I need to keep him amused by squishing the tits together once in a while.
Again, some more very unattractive angles give for good laughs – I’ve also established I’m not that great at frontal selfies.
Some more vacant looks away from the camera.
I guess what I’m trying to get across in this post is that we shouldn’t just showcase the best of us all the time – it’s healthy to be honest, put your hands up and say you’re not always the most photogenic person. I sure as hell am not – we’ve seen that here today!
Everyone is going to have a stash of these somewhere (I think?!) and I’d love it if I could encourage us all to make some fun out of ourselves once in a while!
Let me know which is your favourite shot in the comments below (my personal fave is me sitting on my bed in my denim jacket looking murderous AF).
