Why I’m not “sexy”

Why I’m not “sexy”

I was reading back on some old posts for some inspiration when I came across the original version of today’s topic. I posted it right at the beginning of my blogging journey and felt that I could add to it a bit more, use some better imagery and witty comments (because that’s my jam) which will help you all to relate to a bit better. I also didn’t really make good use of social media back in the day and I have a bigger audience now so…

For as long as I can remember, I’ve always been a bit of the odd one out – at school I would jump between friendship groups, making friends with everyone but never really having a solid foundation of friends – you know the best ones that you’ve been friends with from the age of 3, you went to nursery, primary and secondary school together and were joined at the hip? That was never me. And although I’ve got a small (very small – Hey Mai! LOL just kidding I do have a couple more 😉) group of friends now, I’ve always felt the same way. Now, you may be wondering what the hell this has to do with being sexy? And I myself midway through writing wondered the same (don’t worry this going somewhere). But as I’ve always felt like a misfit of sorts, that I could never really get on board with making myself look or feel sexy. Does that make sense? Probably not.
I’ve got quite a cutesy face (I get asked for I.D all the time) and I think having that look doesn’t make me feel “womanly” but more “girly”. This isn’t a bad thing, but as a society, when we think of empowering women, we don’t see the cutesy looking girly girls striding forth, taking charge of the world – it’s the sexy, “womanly” women who have some sex appeal, but through their “oh so relatable” comments/behaviours (I’m directly referencing Jennifer Lawrence, I cannot stand her or understand why she’s so bloody hyped), they’re the faces of empowering women. Is that a sad fact? I think so, but it’s life, so I need to move the fuck on.
Anyway, instead of going off on a tangent about why we all need to see through Jennifer Lawrence’s false persona – I’m going to show you some photos over the last year or so where being “sexy” doesn’t work for me;

What the fuck is this?

Some snapshots into a goldmine of outtakes I’ve got coming up for you at the end of the year – I was trying to be serious during these shoots… lol.
Of course, sexy is in the eye of the beholder (I know the old saying is beauty, but I think it works right?) and what I deem as sexy might not match up with someone else’s view. I’m sure Aaron doesn’t see me like this (I’m not just sure, I know *hairflick*) but I wanted to put this out there for my fellow baby-faced girls, to let you know that being sexy isn’t the be-all and end-all, we’ve got some brains and hey, at least we’ll look like we’re in our twenties when the sexual beings look all haggard at 50 😉
