Liebster Award!

13/05/2017

I’m so excited that I’ve been nominated by Jennifer Sturgis from The Glamorous Pineapple for the Liebster Award which helps bloggers and readers discover new blogs! Thank you so much for my nomination and for helping me find your blog!
Liebstertitle-1
ABOUT THE LIEBSTER AWARD:
The Liebster Award is given to new bloggers from other new bloggers. It’s a way to get our blogs out there and share the love! Here are the rules:

  1. Post 11 facts about yourself
  2. Answer the 11 questions your nominator has asked you
  3. Nominate 11 other bloggers
  4. Ask them 11 other questions
  5. Let them know that you’ve nominated them
  6. Be sure to link up with the blogger who nominated you!

So, Here we go!
11 Facts About Me

  1. I live in the UK, but was born in the US!
  2. I have an unhealthy obsession with Diet Coke – It’s calmed down a lot over the last year and I’ve tried to go caffeine free, but I’m probably kidding myself that it’s better for me
  3. I’ve been with my fiancé Aaron for 10 years in June 2017 – we started seeing each other when were 15 and I couldn’t imagine my life without him
  4. I had a YouTube channel about 4/5 years ago where I documented my ‘Hair Growth Journey’ the irony of it all is that when I stopped doing the stupid shit to grow my hair, it grew to the longest it’s ever been!
  5. I’m rubbish at doing make up – stay tuned into my YouTube channel where I’m going to be showing you how bad I am
  6. I love spreadsheets, maths and finance – I currently work in the Finance Industry in the Retirement Solutions sector and must say, I never thought it would be something I enjoyed!
  7. Although I live in England, I don’t have any English heritage – my Dad was born in Scotland and my Mum is American (although, technically she was born in London – it was on an American airbase, so she’s considered American)
  8. I hate heights
  9. My sister Georgie and I talk to each other in American accents – we have no idea why, it’s just something that naturally happens
  10. I sometimes go fishing with Aaron (who if you don’t know him – is obsessed with carp fishing, he’s there right now!) and the biggest fish I’ve caught was 19lbs
  11. My Auntie Sheri is like a mum to me and my cousins are more like my sisters <3

Questions I was asked

  1. What made you want to start blogging?

I studied fashion design at university and due to needing a job to pay the bills, I never really took my love of fashion further. I’ve always loved to write and make people laugh, so decided that I would start up a blog that would document my trials and tribulations with fashion.
    2. Who is your favourite actor?
This is such a hard question! I’m really loving Chris Pratt right now  (Aaron and I just watched Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2) so I’ll go with him, but no doubt it’ll change when I think about it after posting!
   3. What is your favourite food?
I love Thai and Italian – I couldn’t pick one of the two
  4. Who is your biggest blogging inspiration? What attracted you to their blog?
I kind of got into blogging through YouTube so a lot of the big UK vlogger/bloggers really inspired me to go for it (Patricia Bright, Samantha Maria, Lydia Millen) – I couldn’t see anyone blogging about what they were doing wrong style wise so wanted to see if there was room for me to do that.
  5. If you could pick anywhere in the world to travel to, where would you go?
I’d love to travel to the Maldives or Australia – we went to Thailand last year and it was amazing, but the flight was so bloody long it’s the only thing that puts me off going – not that I wouldn’t go!
  6. What is one piece of advice you would give to someone interested in starting a blog?
Stick with it and make sure to network, some really great advice I heard on a recent video with Gracie Victory was that if you’re true to yourself and continue to write what you love, your audience will find you.
  7. Where do you see your blog in 5 years?
I have no idea! I’d love to think that I could make it my full time job, but you never know with these kind of things – I absolutely love blogging, so hopefully my following will have grown quite a lot in that time and my content will have attracted the audience I want.
  8. SERIOUS QUESTION: Pineapple on pizza? Yes, or no? LOL
LOL – absolutely not!!!
  9. Are you more of a cat person or a dog person?
Dog person – I can’t wait to live in a house with a garden so we can get a beautiful poochy!
  10. If there was one thing you could do differently when you started blogging, what would it be?
To utilise Twitter more and use better lighting for my photos – pictures make a huge difference to your blog and bad lighting isn’t helping you
  11. What hobbies do you have other than blogging?
I wouldn’t call it a hobby, but I love to sew (fashion design graduate over here!) and regularly carry out alterations and repairs for friends and family in my spare time.

And the final day of 2020 is upon us! I decided to And the final day of 2020 is upon us! I decided to make myself feel like I was going somewhere tonight by putting a full face of makeup on, with the intention of sitting on the sofa sharing a bottle of Disaronno with Aaron to see the new year in! We might hit up the kitchen, the living room and Aaron suggested the bathroom but I wasn’t sure 😂 what have you got planned for tonight? And Happy New Year to everyone!
And that’s Christmas over for another year (alth And that’s Christmas over for another year (although let’s be honest, 2020 may as well not have happened!) and I just hope to god 2021 is a damn site better for everyone! Since I’ve been attempting to cut out purchasing brand new clothing all together, bar a few items such as underwear and pyjamas, I’m hoping once Hertfordshire is out of Tier 4 that I can head to the shops and do some serious secondhand shopping and use the vouchers I got to buy myself some new beauty bits. How was your quiet Christmas and have you got any beauty recommendations for me? #hertsbloggers #fashionbloggeruk #ukfashionblogger #ukstyleblogger #hertsbloggerlove #sustainablefashionblogger #secondhandfashionblogger #petitebloggeruk #petitefashionbloggeruk #outfitinspo #mylookoftheday #ootdshare #ukfashionblog #petitestyle #hertfordshirebloggers #funkyfashion #ukfashion #ootdinspo #canon700d #canon #amatuerphotography #aspiringfashionblogger #aspiringblogger
Hello strangers! Thought I should pop on here and Hello strangers! Thought I should pop on here and let you all know I haven’t forgotten about this online world, I’ve just needed some time to myself after almost 5 years of continuous life sharing! I also haven’t been heading off anywhere glam or buying much to share on here, so today’s snap is a bit of a throw back to just before the first lockdown when I found this gorgeous wool blazer in @british_heart_foundation from @poloralphlauren 🥰 how are you all and have you managed to find any bargain secondhand finds?! ♻️🌿
I’ll be honest and say that I’ve completely go I’ll be honest and say that I’ve completely gone off of Instagram over the last few months and popped on here this morning for the first time in weeks to see if I could get back into the swing again. To be honest I’ve been so busy with work most days, that when it comes to having some free time all I want to do is slob out, watch something on the telly and do nothing - I spend most of my life on my laptop or work phone, that the last thing I want to do when I’m finished is churn out more content. But I’ve come to realise that’s okay - I don’t need to let my social media dictate how I live my life, or feel bad about the fact that I don’t have certain things, can’t go certain places or live a certain life - because social media (and especially Instagram), is where people showcase their best selves and not necessarily what’s going on off screen. I realised a while ago that jealousy isn’t going to get me anywhere; I might look at someone online and envy their life, but should be thankful (and am!) for the life that I’ve already got - there’s always going to be someone worse off and everyone has different goals or ideals in life, so there’s no use in getting bogged down when I can’t afford to go certain places, have certain things, when I’ll get where I need to be in my own time. I just need to carry on doing my own thing and not let the Instagram envy get me down ❤️
{GIFTED} Thank you so much to @kaolin.kiln for sen {GIFTED} Thank you so much to @kaolin.kiln for sending me these gorgeous earrings from her Etsy store - everything is zero waste and all packaging is 100% recyclable! I hope you’re all enjoying the gorgeous sunshine and making sure your skin is well protected from the sun - you don’t want to end up tossing and turning because you got burnt and turned into a radiator in a day! We went food shopping and out to the in-laws for our weekly Sunday roast, so I’m now spending the afternoon keeping as cool as I can in the flat, readying myself for another week of work in the heat!
What a gorgeous day we have today! I’ve spent mo What a gorgeous day we have today! I’ve spent most of the weekend holed up at home, sweating my tits off and binge watching Empire, but it was nice to leave the flat to do some food shopping and have a Sunday roast with the in-laws! On the way home we stopped at a field near home to take some photos for today’s post and it was fun to try out a new location, rocking my #secondhanddress I picked up from @scopecharity last weekend!
Finally managed to grab a few photos this afternoo Finally managed to grab a few photos this afternoon and was so excited to share this #secondhand dress I picked up from a vintage shop in Hitchin yesterday, along with a load of other bits from various charity shops! We luckily managed to miss the rain both today and yesterday, so got to enjoy some sunshine for a little while! What have you been up to this weekend and have you managed to hit the shops since they introduced the mandatory face masks in shops?
