I haven’t posted a lot about our wedding – I don’t want to share things that we’ll all be wearing but thought it would be helpful for others planning a wedding to share some of the things I’ve been doing to save the pennies for other things (like the honeymoon – it’s going to take us ages to decide where we’re jetting off to!)
I’m very organised and like to have everything planned and done on time – basically preparation for me is key. We don’t get married until May 2018, but I’ve got so much sorted already!
So without further ado, here are some snapshots of what I’ve been doing over the last 6 months since we got engaged!
These cute letters were from a thrift shop in a local town, they were originally silver but I decided to spray paint them rose gold/ copper to fit with our colour scheme. If you find something you like but don’t like the colour, head to a craft shop and get yourself some spray paint!
I decided early on that we weren’t forking out a fortune on flowers – I went to a wedding fair with my sister where a lady showed us a standard bouquet for a bridesmaid that would cost circa. £90! This girl’s on a budget and will not be spending her hard earned dollar on flowers that will wilt! I invested in some random jars I found while we were out and about, then ordered loads of artificial flowers from Hobbycraft (the store of wonder for craft lovers) and got arranging the centre pieces! Definitely recommend it – it saves a pretty penny and I think looks gorgeous!
Some more rose gold/ copper spray painting (I got a bit spray happy 😉) these are old milk bottles, flower pots and Gu dessert jars!
Today we invested in some storage boxes to prevent dust settling on everything (it’s just over a year away so it’s bound to happen!) and found some copper wire fairy lights in … wait for it … POUNDLAND!! Tammy was out shopping the other day and sent me a picture of all their fairy lights in stock so I obviously had to buy everything that was there 😉🙌🏻 The Mr & Mrs plaque was only a couple of pound from B&M along with the large storage boxes at £14 for 2 so I came home very chuffed!
These are the bridesmaid bouquets that I arranged myself 💁🏼 super happy with how they look and with everything together each one cost around a fiver! BARGAIN HUNTER ON THE LOOSE!
The final find was a cinematic light box that we also picked up in B&M for just £7.99! Was gutted when we got home and realised it took AA batteries and not the AAA that I’d stocked up on!
I’m sure there will be loads more to come and will keep on sharing my great finds with other wedding planners out there! A list of shops I recommend for finding wedding bits;
- Hobbycraft – a bride to be’s craft haven
- B&M – have a surprising amount of wedding themed nick naks
- Poundland – a great place for things like fairy lights, some craft pieces for wedding invites (if you’re going to attempt that like I am)
- Supermarkets – I’ve found loads of lovely glass jars in Morrisons and Asda so recommend checking out the homeware sections
- T K Maxx – another great place for nick naks
- Thrift shops and charity shops – you never know what treasures you’ll come across!
Let me know about any places you recommend I check out and I’ll keep you updated!
Until next time…
