Foundation face off!

08/03/2017

Here we go, I’ve compiled photos and notes on all of the foundations I’ve trialled over the past year to bring to you, the foundation face off!
I’m going to go in cronological order for this and have numbered each foundation (lists are life) as we go along, with my favourite right at the end -that’s right, you’ll have to scroll all the way through for my final verdict 😉
1. Estée Lauder Doublewear

The nation’s favourite foundation, with great staying power and a wide selection of colours – I liked this a lot and if you’re after a fuller coverage, then this is the one for you. Here’s what it looks like on;

It photographs well, but I’m not a massive fan of how this feels quite cakey on my face.
2. Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer

I didn’t like this at all. It creased and moved around my face a lot throughout the day and made my tiny fine lines around my eyes (yes I’m aware I’m 24 and am probably making a big deal out of nothing) really stand out. It’s a thick coverage so points for that and points for the easy application, but it was a no from me.
3. Younique Mineral Touch Foundation
I wanted to like this so much as I’m friends with a lovely Younique presenter, however I feel like this was overhyped and overpriced. At £30 for a 20ml bottle, I wasn’t a fan of the price tag or the wear. It was another one that creased around my eyes, moved around a lot throughout the day and didn’t have great lasting power. Pros of this include the dropper applicator, it photographs well when first applied and it feels velvety smooth on the skin, but again another no from me.

4. Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk

This was a top contender for me and a firm go to product. On the pricier side at £35 a pop, this one is worth saving for if you like medium/ buildable coverage. It feels light on the skin and is pretty long wearing!
5. Makeup Forever Ultra HD Foundation

Another firm favourite, this has great coverage, isn’t too cakey, photographs well and lasts pretty well too! £28 for 30ml is slightly cheaper than the Luminous Silk, but still on the pricier side!

6. Mac Studio Sculpt

This is very thick and a little goes a long way! It photographs really well but feels quite cakey on the skin (maybe if I’d been a bit lighter handed, this one wouldn’t have felt so thick). I liked that it had great coverage and staying power!

7. Makeup Forever Water Blend

This is a nice summer foundation as it’s lightweight and a lovely colour. Be warned though, as the name implies – it’s very watery! First pump I used and it squirted all up my white wardrobe 😳 it’s nice, but not for me!
8. L’Oréal Infallible Total Cover

I really wanted to like this, but think I should have gone a shade lighter to get a better look (I haven’t included a photo of it on as I hated it). It’s very thick, you’d need a couple of layers to achieve full coverage and the thing that made me hate it – it brought me out in spots (and you’ll know from previous posts that I struggle with my combination skin – girl doesn’t need some nasty arse Foundation clogging her problem skin even more!)
And my final verdict… my top foundation find was the Makeup Forever Ultra HD Foundation. The formula is lovely, not too thick not too watery, the colour is beautiful and best of all – it’s long lasting!

Let me know if there are any others you think I should try in the comments!
Until next time…

I love double wear! I have oily skin and it lasts all day without looking al oily and gross. What’s your skin type? I’ve always wanted to try the Giorgio Armani but I didn’t know if it would work with my oily skin! Glad I found your blog! 💚

Aww thank you! I’ve got kind of combination skin and real issues with break outs on my chin! The Armani lasts well and doesn’t feel as thick as the double wear ❤️

I decided to make myself feel like I was going somewhere tonight by putting a full face of makeup on, with the intention of sitting on the sofa sharing a bottle of Disaronno with Aaron to see the new year in! We might hit up the kitchen, the living room and Aaron suggested the bathroom but I wasn’t sure 😂 what have you got planned for tonight? And Happy New Year to everyone!
And that’s Christmas over for another year (alth And that’s Christmas over for another year (although let’s be honest, 2020 may as well not have happened!) and I just hope to god 2021 is a damn site better for everyone! Since I’ve been attempting to cut out purchasing brand new clothing all together, bar a few items such as underwear and pyjamas, I’m hoping once Hertfordshire is out of Tier 4 that I can head to the shops and do some serious secondhand shopping and use the vouchers I got to buy myself some new beauty bits. How was your quiet Christmas and have you got any beauty recommendations for me? #hertsbloggers #fashionbloggeruk #ukfashionblogger #ukstyleblogger #hertsbloggerlove #sustainablefashionblogger #secondhandfashionblogger #petitebloggeruk #petitefashionbloggeruk #outfitinspo #mylookoftheday #ootdshare #ukfashionblog #petitestyle #hertfordshirebloggers #funkyfashion #ukfashion #ootdinspo #canon700d #canon #amatuerphotography #aspiringfashionblogger #aspiringblogger
Hello strangers! Thought I should pop on here and Hello strangers! Thought I should pop on here and let you all know I haven’t forgotten about this online world, I’ve just needed some time to myself after almost 5 years of continuous life sharing! I also haven’t been heading off anywhere glam or buying much to share on here, so today’s snap is a bit of a throw back to just before the first lockdown when I found this gorgeous wool blazer in @british_heart_foundation from @poloralphlauren 🥰 how are you all and have you managed to find any bargain secondhand finds?! ♻️🌿
I’ll be honest and say that I’ve completely go I’ll be honest and say that I’ve completely gone off of Instagram over the last few months and popped on here this morning for the first time in weeks to see if I could get back into the swing again. To be honest I’ve been so busy with work most days, that when it comes to having some free time all I want to do is slob out, watch something on the telly and do nothing - I spend most of my life on my laptop or work phone, that the last thing I want to do when I’m finished is churn out more content. But I’ve come to realise that’s okay - I don’t need to let my social media dictate how I live my life, or feel bad about the fact that I don’t have certain things, can’t go certain places or live a certain life - because social media (and especially Instagram), is where people showcase their best selves and not necessarily what’s going on off screen. I realised a while ago that jealousy isn’t going to get me anywhere; I might look at someone online and envy their life, but should be thankful (and am!) for the life that I’ve already got - there’s always going to be someone worse off and everyone has different goals or ideals in life, so there’s no use in getting bogged down when I can’t afford to go certain places, have certain things, when I’ll get where I need to be in my own time. I just need to carry on doing my own thing and not let the Instagram envy get me down ❤️
{GIFTED} Thank you so much to @kaolin.kiln for sen {GIFTED} Thank you so much to @kaolin.kiln for sending me these gorgeous earrings from her Etsy store - everything is zero waste and all packaging is 100% recyclable! I hope you’re all enjoying the gorgeous sunshine and making sure your skin is well protected from the sun - you don’t want to end up tossing and turning because you got burnt and turned into a radiator in a day! We went food shopping and out to the in-laws for our weekly Sunday roast, so I’m now spending the afternoon keeping as cool as I can in the flat, readying myself for another week of work in the heat!

I’ve spent most of the weekend holed up at home, sweating my tits off and binge watching Empire, but it was nice to leave the flat to do some food shopping and have a Sunday roast with the in-laws! On the way home we stopped at a field near home to take some photos for today’s post and it was fun to try out a new location, rocking my #secondhanddress I picked up from @scopecharity last weekend!
Finally managed to grab a few photos this afternoo Finally managed to grab a few photos this afternoon and was so excited to share this #secondhand dress I picked up from a vintage shop in Hitchin yesterday, along with a load of other bits from various charity shops! We luckily managed to miss the rain both today and yesterday, so got to enjoy some sunshine for a little while! What have you been up to this weekend and have you managed to hit the shops since they introduced the mandatory face masks in shops?
