Hello internet friends! I hope you’re all well and ready for today’s post!
As you’ll know if you’ve been reading my previous posts – I’ve been sorting out my wardrobe and thinking a bit more about each piece I’ve got.
The bag that inspired this post is one I adore, but was a bit worse for wear;
The actual bag itself is fine, but the straps used to tighten it have worn away from the metal (not sure what to call it? Fastener?)
I loved this too much to throw away so decided to hit up eBay and get some gold rope to thread through instead, however I wasn’t 100% happy with how it looked;
I thought I’d give it a go and took it into work the next day. I’d been thinking that I wasn’t overly keen on the gold colour of the rope, so wanted some honest opinions – I thought who better to ask than Abida on my team (she loves a good handbag 😉).
She echoed what was in my mind and agreed that the gold didn’t go too well and maybe I should try a black?
Back to eBay I went, searching for a black leather rope I could thread through and am happy to report I found a winner;
I went with a real leather strap as I didn’t want the same thing to happen and am in love with this up-cycle!
If you’ve got something you love that’s worse for wear, don’t chuck it in the bin – give it a new lease of life!
Until next time…

That looks awesome Gab! The gold was ok in a pinch but yes, you’re right…the black is much better. I made some knitted leather cord last year which I think could also work but knowing how long it took to make a length of bracelet….well, the length you’d need would have taken aaaaages!! lol Well done! xxxx
